The semi-finals of the African Netball Championship have been overshadowed by an on-court altercation.
In a tumultuous match, the Nyasatimes.com reports an unnamed Ugandan player punched her opposite number Malawi’s Beatrice Kadango in the stomach, resulting in a scuffle between the players that had to be broken up.
Uganda never recovered from a poor start, trailing 17-10 after the first break. The She-Cranes reduced the gap to five at half-time, before Malawi’s Queens gained control of the match again in the third quarter to win 55-46.
Uganda has earned a reputation for being extremely physical; their goal-keeper Lillian Ajao was sent off during the pool match against South Africa. The South African players were reportedly displeased with Uganda’s conduct during the match and even cheered for Malawi during the semi-final.
South Africa crushed Zambia 66-48 in the other semi-final and will play against Malawi in the grand final.

My dyslexic brain read that as “Nasty times.com”
Quite appropriate given the subject matter
