If netball is going to get a bigger audience it has to be on a free to air platform – the traditional Sky sports subscriber is male and gets the channel primarily to watch the football! Also, if you look at EN’s core membership, it’s young women, who aren’t necessarily going to have £60-70 a month to throw at a subscription service that doesn’t have a regular time for screening and which moves netball all over the schedule, depending on when it suits them!
Will be interesting to see how Wasps go in the international clubs competition at the end of the year- I doubt many other franchises have the funding to participate internationally, and we certainly don’t want English clubs to get trashed, as that will have a detrimental effect on audiences!
