Before Liz Watson there was Robo. Imo the most feared WA to play the game. She formed a deadly combination with Bassett with Fever 2009 after being an impact player for Vixens in 2008. Then went on to win the WYC with Layton, Phillip (Caldwell) and Bassett, thrashing NZ in the final 2009. When Norma went with Pitman and Green at the 2011 World Champs I was secretly glad she didn’t make it. But success at that World Cup perhaps put her on the back burner. Her true (imo) Diamonds break came at the 2014 CWGs. She was flawless with Medhurst, Bassett on attack. Unfortunately injuries soon came and played a huge part in her decline. Still very agile and skillful, but the injury plague didn’t quite go away. Such a star, such a legend in the Australian wing attack legacy. Farewell Maddie Browne aka Robo. End of an era, best wishes for your future aspirations.
