Sponsors with large amounts of money are always thin on the ground, but the rise of women’s AFL means even more competition for this money. Netball for decades was on free to air TV, but vanishing behind a paywall will not have aided its profile and visibility to sponsor’s customers. Contrast that with the AFLW where matches are regularly shown on free to air TV.
