The distance from the post has pros and cons.
I like the fact that it is more difficult and further away because it should be a challenge and reward to nail it. However, this needs to be balanced with the entertainment factor where the shots also need to land or the team that is trailing will just fall further behind and a “chuck and hope” spectacle will start to unfold.
Also, the less space there is to feed into will make it harder to feed and defenders will be able to push the shooters high with no space to feed without it being a short pass. This may reduce the opportunities to take shots from 2 point range.
