None.Shooting stats:
Wagg . 29/40 (72%)
Cusack . 24/32 (75%)
Total . 53/72 (73%)The Silver Ferns were missing key players Rita Fatialofa-Patolo (never played for the Silver Ferns again), Sandra Edge (“retired” briefly) and Waimarama Taumaunu (unavailable), and the Diamonds were missing Vicki Wilson, Jennie Longhurst and Lisa Beehag from their respective 1989 teams. The absences, as is generally the case, affected the Silver Ferns much more than the Diamonds and accordingly the Diamonds smashed the Silver Ferns 53 – 35. Silver Ferns coach Lyn Gunson subsequently dropped a bombshell by dumping stand-in captain Julie Coney from the team, evidently making her the scapegoat for the heavy loss, the Silver Ferns first really heavy loss to the Diamonds in the 1990s.
That’s the NSW lineup, plus Fielke!
