1991 was the year that changed everything. Such a breakthrough event, with a lot of firsts. The first time the event was called the World Championships, the first time there were semi-finals and a final, the first time the event was held indoors, the first time it was shown live on Australian TV. It captured the attention of Australia and climaxed with a brilliant final, won by Australia 53-52 over rivals New Zealand in front of over 10,000 fans.
