I’m hoping all teams boycott the rules and just play normal netball regardless.

.@SuperNetball has made a sudden 2-goal ‘super shot’ rule change.
Vixens coaches and players have been left shocked with only 6 weeks until R1.

It is interesting to see even players who are known as long shot capable being critical of it. I also saw a brief exchange on FB between Michelle Phippard and Jono Bredin (sorry if they are not spelt correctly) where Michelle confirmed that on court officials were NOT consulted regarding this change either.
As for the players and coaches coming out against this.. what’s the bet they all become silent in the next few days. I expect that there must be something in their contracts that forbids criticizing the league.

There is one way this can be stopped. If all the fans politely request the SSN players, especially the shooters and goal attacks, not to take a 2 point shot during games, and if the GKs and GDs don’t defend a 2 point shot, and if all the players agree to do this, as their statement against not being consulted, then the SSN hierarchy and the Nine Network will have egg on their face.
All the players have to do is nothing. Don’t take a 2 point shot, don’t defend a 2 point shot. If all teams do this for one round – then it will kill it off. Passive, peaceful, and totally within the rules.READ |

WHAT THE ACTUAL F!!!
This is like when Australia was playing 7 a side women’s basketball and New Zealand was playing 9 a side. Except this time, the international game won’t be played under our version of the rules. We’re already hurting the Diamonds with the unlimited number of imports occupying key positions in lots of teams reducing our depth, and now we’re going to make them play under different rules?
Will be intersting to see if those imports continue to come back, because the SSN is no longer the premier netball league in the world.
The Australian Netball PA have released a statement after the two point announcement.
“We are simply seeking a level of basic respect for our role in the game, that was not exhibited this week in the manner in which this initiative was managed." pic.twitter.com/uSg45QPSrv

Loved being a part of the @SuperNetball Competition Committee that weren’t consulted about this before being informed of the rule changes a couple of hours prior to it being made public 😳 https://t.co/75bXxHsEKz

Can’t be called the greatest Netball comp in the world anymore.
The SSN rules differ so much from international Netball..@joannamweston, who is Vice President of the Australian Netball Players' Association, was disappointed yesterday not just with the decision of the rule change, but the lack of consultation with the playing group.

Liz Ellis – Netball blindsides fans, coaches, players in ‘super shot’ move
I’m just enraged. You can’t put out a statement saying this sit he controversy you wanted by making this announcement but then are too cowardly to even sigues this with the ANPA. Absolute joke and mockery that they’ve made of the sport. I hope this only on a trial basis Or that players boycott next year if they decide to continue, yes that’s a big thing to do but I don’t agree that this is netball anymore. Netball shots are worth ONE point not two and they never should. We shouldn’t have to change the key concepts of the sport to attract people, it’s too big of a step into sports like basketball. It doesn’t separate the two sports enough.
