All fell apart from the first change in the circle when all rhythm was lost and never regained. Australia stopped driving in the last few minutes. Price came on well and gave them some punch in attack but wasn’t enough.
I think Philip proved again she is not a big game player. Thwaites was fantastic and should start the next game with Tippet.
Looks like Game 4 is now a must win for the Diamonds. They need to minimise turnovers, they had five more than the Ferns today. Would love to see the team bounce back hard
The Vixens combo got us back into the game then Philip again faltered. Should have had Tippett come back on with Thwaites.
I would also liked to have seen a change with Lizzy going to WA and fresh legs of Price into C.Australia should never have been in that position. Had what is in the context of NZ – Aus clashes a decent lead but never iced it. From the disastrous first 5 minutes of the second half NZ had the momentum.
Agree with ALL of that
All stats virtually even except intercepts and penalties where NZ were clearly ahead.
Laura Langman well deserved Player of the match!!

Philip 5/8 (63%)Assists: Langman 26

NZ leads 2-1
Until last Sunday, Aust hadn’t given up a 3/4 time lead against NZ for 12 years. Now it’s happened twice in a week.
There’s no big secret… they are a more experienced team, they are a more settled team, and well led by a captain who you know with be on court for all 60 mins.
I agree I think the leadership of the Silver Ferns should not be underrated. Australia always look a rabble under pressure regardless of who is on court.
And to channel 9 in the last 2-3 minutes we want to see the on court action. We have no interest in looking at stressed coaches.
They have what, three days?
LA should work on the combinations that include Thwaites, whether that is Tippett or Phillip, this starting line-up was too predictable. They also need a back-up C in case Watson needs to be moved to WA whether that is JLP, Brazill, or Scherian, there needs to be flexibility. Also LA, if you want to make a change in the last quarter, bringing Klau on at GK, is NOT that decision.
THREE DAYS LA, work some magic!
Also, we see Bassett taken off when she is not effective, then why doesn’t LA allow Thwaites the opportunity to start the next time? If lA truly wants to keep coaching the Diamonds she needs to not only make good coaching decisions at the start of the game but also needs to know when she needs to make changes when the team is losing momentum in the final quarter.- This reply was modified 4 years, 11 months ago by Netballcrazy1.

I’m very happy with that win, but that was a heart stopper of a game!
Again anyone could have won and Langman with that last intercept sealed the deal!
One thing I like about the Diamonds is how they can mix players up almost seamlessly. Sherian feeding Vixen shooters for one. That’s just insane how well it comes together.
Bruce should never come off imo. Yep she gets figured out during a game, but then she starts hunting in the midcourt and causes havoc further up.
Watson/ Burglar combination started to come together after starting badly. They started to switch on their players much better in the 2nd half.
Langman is just a netball genius. She would be so annoying to try and defend lol. Very good game, she definitely uses all her players around her these days. The pass and catch passing machine.
So do we have to win by 5 or 6 in Perth? Not sure how it all works anymore.
Tegan choked when it mattered most.
Lisa should have put tippet back on with about 5 mins to go.
The easy lob pass under pressure can get your out of a jam if need be.I would have also bought Bruce back on with 5 to go. She reads the game better than Klau in important times. Klau chases but Bruce reads the play better in key moments.
But this experience will be great for KlauWeston. Her passing is getting worse every year. Massive Achilles her in her game and no sign of it being rectified and it has cost aus a few times now in close games
I do think Lisa A is getting better at utilizing her team and changes but still a bit to learn there.
Nz are playing amazing. Wonder what NZ will be like after langman and Maria go. NT def wants the win before her departure. No looking to use her bench or get her team experience in this CC really at all.
Completely agree with your observations (That was meant to be a reply to Havingalook but doesn’t seem as though it worked)
