Nice to see everyone all polished up!
Deserved winners, although I thought there might have been some award for Maria Folau. I think she has been more key to the Ferns success this season than Ekenasio. They didnโt even interview Maria. Will be interesting to see how the Ferns go if and when Folau retires from international netball and if Ekenasio can step into her shoes.
Think you’d find that was Maria’s choice. No fuss, end of. Maybe she’ll be at Quad series? Maybe something else is in the pipe work to recognize her? Without playing other shooters like LA did I think the Ferns will have to pull lots of rabbits out of there hats. Plus others made WC game successful, Jane Watson, Katrina Rore, where do you start and finish? In saying that if it was Maria’s last appearance, they have blown the chance to publicly acknowledge her but again maybe it was her choice. She’s had how many yrs of fame, maybe wanted it away from her?
Congratulations to all the worthy winners.
Did I read somewhere MF hasn’t been available for interviews? Perhaps somewhat by choice?
The Silver Ferns’ player of the year was awarded to Ameliaranne Ekenasio, decided by votes from members of the Silver Ferns squad for the player who best demonstrated the team’s values both on and off the court – Quote from stuff.
Looking forward to the club competition in December. Maybe we might see a couple changes in the SF squad for the quad series.
This is Pure. Was an awesome insight to the rise at the World Cup. Starting from the CWGs to the WC final. Definitely a tear jerker and some interesting insights. Bailey Mes mentioned that in the past they would have fitness tests, but when it came to selection. They didn’t matter.
Then followed up by the Award ceremony which was cringy at times with that guy who is the apparent face of netball. Can someone sack him lol.
The targets set by Noeline were just brilliant. Progress was monitored weekly and most of the girls were exceeding their previous scores. Noeline built her team beautifully in a short space of time.
I thought the crowd were disappointing, very conservative, clapping on cue. Would have been nice to have a fan section. But overall a great night of watching our netballers celebrate their achievement.
Good to see the Aussie umpire is NZ umpire of the year…just saying
Yeah, that’s two occasions an Australian umpire (who wasn’t the number 1 umpire here) has gone to NZ and quickly become the number 1 umpire there.
