Yep, the rule has changed. It used to be that there had to be a space for an opposition player to go between the hands of the passer and receiver, but now it’s just the opponent’s hand:
9.5.1 Short Pass
When a player passes the ball there must be sufficient space for an opposing player on the court to be able to intercept the ball with a hand as it moves from the hands of the thrower to those of the receiver.Kate Heffernan is playing well.
3/4 time: NZ A dominating this now. That Q was 18-11 with the A team committing just 2 turnovers. Poi and Earle working well in the midcourt and Nweke has 42 goals in three quarters!

TPSR has come to claim her SF spot with style!
I know TPSR is hot and cold, but when she’s hot she’s great to watch.
16-10 to the team with the black and white bibs at quarter time.
Is Ekanasio the best player in the world?
Great opening quarter! The men are trying to play with more ball movement instead of exploiting their height/athleticism which has made the game way more interesting (although probably worse for them on the scoreboard). TPSR started great (except for the shooting) and Ekenasio has really stepped up. Except for Wilson at GS I think this is probably the Ferns’ best lineup, the midcourt have been excellent and I’ve been impressed by Sulu.
While Te Paea’s accuracy is only 50% her court play has been beautiful. Where has this play been!? Keep it up I say.
1/4 time: NZ 16 v NZ Men 10
Great start from the Silver Ferns. Playing in a very controlled way, limiting the chances for the men’s team to pounce on anything. Meanwhile the men’s team have made an uncharacteristic 10 turnovers in that first Q. Ekenasio with 10/10 so far.
TPSR is getting stuck in the body now. Taurua telling Wilson to warm up.
NZ Mean have caught up. Ferns lead 20-17
The Men’s defensive circle is just such a great opportunity for the Ferns to practice. This is a high-level game and will prepare the Ferns in a way lots of other national teams won’t be in the lead up to test matches
