Both teams chockablock with current and former SSN/ANZ players and current state and national reps, should be great
Is Horjus ineligible? I know she played lots of SSN but technically she was just an elevated TP
Very up and down but Matrics up by a good 10 in the 3rd, very surprised because although Matrics are defending their title from 2019, the Contax lineup is quite strong and there is a lot of depth but too many errors coming from them at the moment and their GS had very soft hands
The contax coach should be left wondering why they changed the lineup so much after the first quarter and then again when matrics found their groove… very frustrating
Matrics win 60-55
Yes, Contax made way too many changes but also they were forced too after their shooting circle starting missing and turning the ball over because of soft hands
Some poor coaching choices made by Contax. Well done to Matrics, had some quality on the bench but chose the best side for the game/matchups, stuck with the 7 who were doing the job.
Thought Dent and Austin were fantastic. Austin got MVPThe difference was sticking to the line-up. When it got to their end of court Matrics were confident that Austin would slot it through whereas once the starting shooter for contax was benched and came back on expected to play the same and pull the team back it was too late. Imo leave the team that gave you the lead.
Also the period where Hodges was off the court then put on at GS was mind boggling. Unless there was an injury why take your play making GA off? Austin and Dent are both very exciting players. Lots of players in the game who are in WYC contention. SA pathways are so strong.
Lemke can play at GA, but has only played probably 8 quarters total for the whole year. Interesting move and pressure on her to perform in the GF. Unsure why the change was made at qtr time, the change didn’t hurt them, but to try 4 different goalie options was interesting. Don’t know why Amelia Schmidt didn’t get on. I thought the defence was a bit of an issue. Couldn’t stop Lucy Austin.
I like that the Matrics coach rewarded the form of Schwartz in C as she played there in the absence of Orr at Collingwood. Interestingly Schwartz played GD in the grand final last year.
Orr played some GD for Matrics last year as well sometimes. Interesting that they both play midcourt now
