Nothing I’ve seen from the Lightning this year suggests they’ll beat the Vixens in this one..

I’m not so sure now that Eddy is out for this round. Lightning got close enough to win in round 14. Both teams have astute coaches. I think it’s down to whether the following players can step up/have learnt enough:

            Maweni
            Pretorius
            Proscovia
            Scherian

In fact I think that the SCL attack (Wood very poor last week) reducing turnovers might be the only deciding factor.

Vixens are not perfect. They need good coaching decisions and for the new WD to nail it. Also I think Mannix could step it up.

            I still back Vixens.

No Kate Eddy today. I’m worried for the Vixens

With Eddy out I’d start Mannix/Newton/Weston but McKinnis will probably go Dehaney/Mannix/Weston or stick with Mannix and Weston with Smith at WD

Foot injury JR. was the reason Eddy went off at half time last week. Given nothing was said of it during the week I’d hoped she was okay but not to be. Hopefully Eddy can play later in finals after having to miss finals last year as well through an ankle injury.

I said earlier in the season Eddy looked like she needed a rest. But she never got one. Hope that doesn’t bite Vixens.

Smith gets the start. Another change up they could use is Dehaney – Mannix – Weston. Or Moloney to WD and McDonald in C (depending on Liz’s ankle).

Weston also has a compression sock on her left calf which she doesn’t usually have.

Hope they make it through today and get a fortnight to get over all these injuries.

Yeah Chatfield replaces Cox. Ellis got to go home this week because the QLD – NSW border opened to some regions including Ballina where Ellis lives. Cox couldn’t return as the border is closed to Sydney.

JR – Looks like Weston has removes the calf compression. Maybe she normally wears that before games? Not sure. But good sign.

                                  Great start for Allie Smith.
