3pm AEST (2:30pm SA, 1pm WA, 5pm NZ, 6am UK)
Live scoring: https://mc.championdata.com/super_netball/
So Proud and Moore start off! Should be interesting to see if Turner can start getting back into her 2019 form today
Swifts
GS Wallace
GA Housby
WA Haythornthwaite
C Hadley
WD Craig
GD Turner
GK KlauFirebirds
GS Aiken
GA Dwan
WA Dunkley
C Cassidy
WD Simpson
GD Jenner
GK HinchliffeCraig is given a caution with 6 penalties this quarter
I’d give Moore a crack at WD. Craig too expensive but I think the Swifts need Hadley at C, both Haythornthwaite and Proud have been a bit reckless. Swifts a lot less clinical this year, even when they’re winning it feels more laboured.
Dwan has been a revelation. I did not expect her to play so well. Huge improvement since team girls cup 2019 and yet since then she has mainly been injured. I really hope she doesn’t spend 2021 sitting on the pine. I would love to see her Change clubs if necessary but I doubt she will.
Al_ex what about Turner at WD and Moore at GD?
1/4 time: Firebirds 19-12
Wallace 10/10 (100%) 0/1 (0%)
Housby 2/2 (100%)Aiken 14/15 (93%)
Dwan 3/5 (60%) 1/1 (100%)A strong start by the Firebirds, but that shouldn’t be a surprise. They’re the second best starting team in the competition. But from the 2nd Q onwards…..
Yeah I think Turner would fit better into WD than Moore but Dwan has been really good and I think they need to grind her down. To be honest I think either option would be better than what’s going on right now.
Aiken has really improved over this year, I think Dwan has brought the best out of her. Tippett had a great year last year but I don’t think she really brought the best out of those around her, hence why they didn’t win much.
Firebirds using the super shot VERY well and I guess no Swifts are forced to take those shots as well.
Dwan with 3 supershots and what can I say… When will this STUPID rule leave our game.
Brain explosion by Klau and Dwan punishes them with a super shot.
Two great games today.
SS once again giving a team more momentum than they’ve earned
Dunkley is so stable at WA, always providing an option and never looks rushed or bothered. Very few errors. The front end for the Firebirds in general is looking so solid. Dwan has to be challenging for the Diamonds squad…
I think Garbin has to come on at GA, the Swifts stop trying to play at a million miles an hour when she’s on. Proud and Haythornthwaite are just too impulsive today and although Housby has been great in defence she’s been involved in some turnovers.
1/2 time: Firebirds 39-30
Wallace 22/22 (100%) 1/2 (50%)
Housby 6/6 (100%)0/2 (0%)Aiken 24/29 (83%)
Dwan 7/9 (78%) 4/5 (80%)Swifts narrowed the gap to just 3 but then 4 super shots by Dwan and the lead was stretched again. Lara Dunkley has been a good player for Firebirds.
