And yet, Lightning lead by 1 at quarter time. Love Wood and love she’s happy shooting super shots, but sad they influence the results of some games too much.

the SS and TTOs give teams the ability to change/halt momentum in a way that is very unnatural. I would like to see momentum swing based on something like a strong rebound, a great passage or transition, a desperate chase down etc

    1/4 time: lightning 16-15

    Koenen 8/9 (89%) 0/1 (0%)
    Wood 4/6 (67%) 2/2 (100%)

    Fowler 14/15 (93%)
    Teague-Neeld 1/1 (100%) 0/1 (0%)

Exciting stuff. At the 11:23 minute mark, Fever was up 14-7. It looked like the previous clash. Lightning then went on a 9-1 run to close out the Q

International games – unless the Vixens stay in QLD till late November/early December …and our numbers go down enough to be in ‘Covid Normal’ by then, there’ll be NO Watson, no Weston and others who weren’t in the team in 2019 but would probably be in the squad – Mannix, Moloney, maybe Thwaites if she comes out of international retirement….not sure about Magpies players now both Madi and Kelsey are out.

Thwaites said ‘could be here for 6 more weeks, so just going week by week’….

In this case, the super shot only changed the score by 2, it was really the defensive pressure that caused turnovers, but the SS definitely helped

Love ATN’s confidence this season, so nice to see her in this form, could be a great star of the future

Fever starting to gain some momentum here, Lightning need to be more careful, they have lost the ball twice in a row in goals now

Ian, can you do some stats by the end of this round to tell us how many games’ results have been changed by the 2 point shot.

That would be good to see. On the other hand it’s important to consider the unquantifiable effect of the two-point shot. When a team uses it to gain some momentum or push out their lead, it can affect the players’ mental state, eg. more confident on the other hand, when a scoreline blows out because of it, players can lose confidence

McAuliffe with a GREAT deflection, unfortunately they lost it on transition.
A massive 8 turnovers this quarter from Lightning
