Lightning lead 66-60 with 6.5 minutes left. Firebirds timeout
Bit of inexperience has cost the Firebirds today.. they’ve got a good young squad to work with though..
2 1/2 mins left. Firebirds need some gains and for Dwan to shoot the lights out. Not happening so far.
The super shot might ruin this game for the Lightning, Dwan is on fire but that is only if they give us possession
Very smart from Maweni and Pretorius, they are putting Dwan in a sandwich and forcing Aiken to take the 1, and they’re doing it very well
Steph Wood MVP???
Russel has come alive in this last 5 minutes
Lightning just playing their own game and have sealed this game up
Dunkley stays on the bench, the Firebirds season is over.
Koenen/Wood were so dominant in the second half. They had answers for everything. Diamonds starting combo for me.
In the stats that we worked out a couple of weeks ago, Firebirds were great starters, but then faded out from there. Whereas Lightning were slow starters but great finishers.
So, this match lived up to that.
If I were a Firebirds fan I’d be very frustrated that Dunkley never came back on.
Ellis has been impressive I’d be interested to see what she can do over a longer period of time than just as an impact player. Hinchliffe and Jenner should both be GD.
Firebirds now out of finals and unless one of Fever or Swifts lose their next two matches, Thunderbirds are out as well.
Firebirds attack looked very dishevelled without Dunkley. Gardner has impressive speed but isn’t dominating in attack or defence.
Dwan had a quiet game by her own standards and you can see that in her NNP which is around 50
MVP: Pretorius
