I actually forgot about this game being on tonight. I was enjoying the break from midweek games, catching up on my Uni work. Whoops…

I’d love to see Lightning recruit another GA/GS option next year so we can see Wood back at WA a bit more. Scherian has been a bit expensive a few times this year and today is looking a bit similar. Someone like McCollin, Hodges or Glasgow would be good. Jovic having a really good start, it’ll be interesting to see it McAuliffe stays at C.

Magpies were down by about 6 but have managed to catch up. Lightning lead 10-9

Silly mistakes across the transition are costly for Magpies, their defensive unit is getting some nice ball

Harrison Hoist attempted by Pretorius and Maweni, very nice. Magpies lose the ball trying to move the ball out of the normal shooting zone to the super shot zone

                        1/4 time: Lightning 16-12

                        Nelson 8/9 (89%)
                        Sinclair 2/2 (100%) 1/3 (33%)

                        Koenen 13/14 (93%)
                        Wood 3/3 (100%) 0/1 (0%)

Cara, the queen of the baseline is at it again. Lightning on top, but Magpies have stuck at it pretty well. Mel Bragg pulled off one unbelievable play.

I’ve watched a LOT of netball in my lifetime but I’ve only ever been to ONE game. It was in Townsville way back in 2006. Firebirds beat Jaegers. Vicki Wilson coached Firebirds and their star was Jo Morgan. Jane Altschwager played for Jaegers and Carla Dziwoki (Firebirds) did her ACL!

Wow Ian I would’ve never guessed that you had only ever been to one game

                              1/2 time: Lightning 35-27

                              Nelson 20/22 (91%)
                              Sinclair 3/4 (75%) 2/4 (50%)

                              Koenen 19/22 (86%)
                              Wood 4/4 (100%) 2/3 (67%)

Lightning seem to have this match well in hand. Magpies putting in but the turnovers are killing them. 21 in a half is diabolical. Maweni & Pretorius on fire.

                                This is SO frustrating!!!

I really want to see the Magpies make a good close game of this, and that’s what should be happening. They’ve had enough ball, but they just keep throwing it away!

                                  3/4 time: Lightning 49-40

                                  Nelson 31/34 (91%)
                                  Allen 0/0 (0%) 0/1 (0%)

                                  Koenen 30/33 (91%)
                                  Wood 5/6 (83%) 3/4 (75%)

Lightning actually aren’t at the top of their game today. They would have been quite beatable in this game if Magpies were able to hold onto the ball.
