1/4 time: Vixens 16-13
Vixens 13/16 (3/5)
Firebirds 12/14 (1/1)Super shots
Thwaites 2/3For the 2nd week in a row, Firebirds a bit strange in the final 5 mins. Their only (successful) attempt at 2 pts right on the buzzer, while Vixens went 3/5.
Looking forward to see what damage the rotating goal circle of Thwaites,Kumwenda and Philip will inflict on the opposition this season.
1/2 time: Vixens 38-21
Vixens 32/37 (6/9)
Firebirds 20/29 (1/5)Super shots
Kumwenda 3/5
Thwaites 2/3Vixens totally dominating. They were on top already, but I’m afraid to say the last 5 mins of each Q just looks a bit like a train wreck for the Firebirds. Not good.
Such a stark difference in the last 5 mins. Vixens just move seamlessly from regular play to power play. The Firebirds on the other hand really don’t seem to know what to do. Most of the time they continue to use Aiken, but when they do go for the super shots… not successful.
Are anyone actually enjoying the 2 point shot?
I started to watch but had to stop. It isn’t netball.Having said all this, I feel the Firebirds were the team most badly affected by the sudden decision to implement the super shot. They didn’t have the time to recruit anyone for it and then of course they lost Gretel Bueta to pregnancy. So they’ve been very unlucky.
3/4 time: Vixens 57-32
Vixens 49/59 (8/13)
Firebirds 31/46 (1/9)Super shots:
Philip 3/3
Kumwenda 3/5
Thwaites 2/3This is a real mismatch at this stage. Vixens just looking very professional, like a team that will go a long way this year. Sadly, Firebirds looking anything but
The poor Firebirds. They may well be on the bottom of the ladder for the entire season.
The Vixens at their clinical best. Great to see them really build their depth. The issue for them has never been how good their Plan A is, it’s about developing a Plan B/C/D. Lightning will be a great challenge for them next.
Vixens are always strong during the round robin, but never handle the pressure of finals.
We are fierce competitors when we take the court, but we would also like to say THANK YOU to our hosts the @FirebirdsQld – they have done so much work behind the scenes to make sure this @SuperNetball season could happen and we could not be more grateful 🙌#SSNFirebirdsVixens
