I know! it was a VERY interesting game but I was busy writing a report. I wonder whether Fowler hadn’t settled for 1 point on her last shot (levelling the scores 72-all) and gone for 2, could they have won? I wonder if Housby and Garbin hadn’t both missed, wasting 20 seconds, could Fever have equalised? Very interesting ending involving both tactics and fate.
I don’t think that we can separate the individual contribution of Fowler v Garbin. Garbin had one dominant quarter but Fowler had three! And Fowler had an Australian Diamond GK on her, and she showed the guts under huge pressure to hit 3/4 super shots right at the end.
Lewis and Moore – both excellent games. Lewis actually got more possession than Moore! It’s just that she looked a bit amateur in the third quarter and didn’t adjust to Garbin.
Key stat of note – lost possession. For me, that’s the turnovers + intercepted passes thrown. So, Collyer was the big problem here, she gave it up 11 times. Also, quarter 3 for Swifts, they lost it only 2 times, where each other quarter was more like 8-9 times. And therein is the story of the match.
