It doesn’t seem like the Thunderbirds rate Hodges much unfortunately. She should move next year, teams like Fever, Vixens, Collingwood etc. would surely contract her.
If Glasgow wants to be a Diamond I think she’ll have to learn some GA. I’m not sure if she’s dominant enough to be an International GS.
Wow….has got interesting for the last 12-13 minutes…will need to come back to this game after the NZ GF.
OH NO!!! Potgieter ends up on 98 straight goals. So close but yet so far.
Interesting, no warning on that late challenge!
Well Petty is in the 12 today even though the Thunderbirds has the option to bring in someone else like Hodges. I’m also not a fan of Sterling’s attitude. Love her but if she’s not on then she gets very gloomy and doesn’t even bother with hands over. She needs to be more versatile than just looking for balls in the air because a team like Lightning will but that out easily. That also made me wonder if maybe Shimmin should go to GK and Guscoth to GD. Who knows it might put a fire in Sterling’s belly.
Thunderbirds not down by much despite how it may feel, they need to come out strong in this last quarter and treasure the ball
3/4 time: Lightning 39-38
Koenen 25/28 (89%)
Wood 14/19 (74%) 0/1 (0%)Potgieter 24/25 (96%)
Glasgow 1/2 (50%) 1/2 (50%)This is anyone’s game. Tbirds have fought back strongly after being down at 3/4 time. Meanwhile, I’m trying to watch and give updates on two games at once!
Wheels falling off for the Thunderbirds, getting the feeling this could blow out
Lightning really lifting in this last Q. Up 51-43
The Glasgow/Horjus combination is just too raw, neither is accurate enough today and as a result you need Lenize their to rebound
Some people say Australia is short on strong goal shooting depth. Cara Koenen says yeah nah.
Koenan was brilliant today, she really stood out. The rest of the attack end didn’t do a lot of specky stuff like they’re known for but did their jobs to ensure sterling stayed out of the contest. Langman was fantastic in defence as usual.
Steph Wood is such a good WA. I remember when she first came to the Swifts she really made her mark there but she focused more on GA after that. I’d really like to see her there more especially at Diamonds level.
Koenen is the most in-form GS in Australia. Completely unphased. Maybe needs to work a bit on her the shot but aside from that there are no real weaknesses.
Lightning 53-Tbirds 45
Koenen 32/36 (88%)
Wood 14/20 (70%)
Proscovia 7/7 (100%)Potgieter 28/29 (97%)
Horjus 11/18 (61%)
Glasgow 3/10 (30%)Super shots: Horjus 2/6, Glasgow 1/6, Wood 0/1
Assists: Langman 20
Gains: Pretorius 6MVP: Koenen
Good strong win.
Blackman and Hodges have been back in Adelaide playing premier league.
