One thing I’ve noticed about Charles is that she often goes looking for the hero pass into Fowler and overlooks ATN. Its not costing them in this game but often does and I wonder what it does for someone’s confidence to continually play decoy and then have people say she should be putting up more shots.
Lightning showing dangers of having almost too strong a starting 7 so the change up options if it doesn’t work aren’t fantastic. The condensed season and even potentially Woods injury are exacerbating this issue.
3/4 time: Fever 63-36
Fowler 53/54 (98%) 0/1 (0%)
Stanton 0/0 (0%)Wood 11/14 (79%) 4/6 (67%)
Koenen 16/18 (89%) 0/2 (0%)What a total thrashing this is. Did anyone see this coming? Looks like some records will be broken today if the Fever keep their stars on court.
Fowler gets a rest! She sits down with 57/59 after a totally dominant performance for 50 minutes.
Seriously what is the go in this game? Every Lightning player decided to have an off day on the same day. Conversely every Fever player including the bench(some who are out of position) decided to have a great day.
Charles has been everywhere today. Brilliant performance.
Minute of silence for Tbirds who have to play Lightning on Wednesday, they’ll be looking to bounce back big. Fever will look to consolidate this win with another strong performance and it will be interesting to see what strategies teams employ next week to try and slow the roll of an attack end that has decided to click.
Fever 80-Lightning 56
Fowler 57/59 (97%)
Teague-Neeld 10/14 (71%)
Stanton 8/10 (80%)Wood 21/27 (78%)
Koenen 18/23 (78%)
Proscovia 9/10 (90%)
Lawrie 1/3 (33%)Super shots: Wood 7/9, Teague-Neeld 3/4, Stanton 2/2
Assists: Charles 27
Gains: Bruce 9MVP: Charles
I wonder if the condensed SSN season, is taking it’s toll on the older players in the SC team.
They looked slow, tired and flat. Fever played well, but not 26 goals betterAs I’ve said elsewhere, thought the Lightning had squeezed the lemon dry with this squad at the end of last season and needed to re-tool.. they just don’t have the class they used to in a couple of key areas and like others have pointed out, depth is being exposed in this condensed format
Wow what a thrashing.
Didn’t watch. But 2 games a week must be really hard on players with previous injuries.
Wood isn’t the same this season
Madi Browne and Kelsey Browne both gone down with knee soreness
Bruce only just finding form now.I would have like to see games reduced by 12 min like the ANZ.
2 x 60min games a week is surely very tiring on the body and mind.
And soon 3 teams will fly to Adelaide, play and then fly back to Brisbane and play again soon afteryes, I agree about 12 minute quarters like the ANZP. And NO minutes Super Shot time…
I wonder what it does for someone’s confidence to continually play decoy and then have people say she should be putting up more shots.
Don’t worry, ATN arrived at Fever well-trained in that art by the Magpies!

It was great to see ATN show how good she can be – brilliant playmaking and constant cuts/drives to keep Pretorius busy and away from Fowler. Must have been very close to MVP (although Charles also played a blinder)
