GK Bruce1/4 time: Fever 19-13
Aiken 12/13 (92%) 0/1 (0%)
Dwan 1/2 (50%) 0/1 (0%)Fowler 18/18 (100%)
Teague-Neeld 1/2 (50%) 0/2 (0%)A strong start from Fever. They just look more composed. Firebirds normally match up well on Fever, but they’ll have to stop the feed into Fowler.
This thread and netball twitter are both very quiet about this game? Is everyone watching the bachelor or something?
Falling apart a bit for the Firebirds. When a team has 20 turnovers or fewer, they win. Fever are on track to do just that. Only 6 turnovers so far in 25 minutes while Firebirds have had 11. Fever out to a 33-22 lead.
Where has this form for Fever come from? Their midcourt don’t seem like they’re playing that much better than the start of the year
Well, 4 Fever turnovers in the 5 minutes since I said that, and Firebirds go to half time just feeling a bit better. Down by 7 now.
1/2 time: Fever 36-29
Aiken 25/29 (86%) 0/1 (0%)
Dwan 2/3 (67%) 1/4 (25%)Fowler 34/36 (94%)
Teague-Neeld 2/3 (67%) 0/2 (0%)Fever still appear to have the edge, but Firebirds just coming back into it towards the end of that Q. Rudi Ellis with a good start up against Fowler.
I’ve been quite impressed with what Rudi Ellis has been doing so far, Tara wasn’t doing much wrong but needed a few extra cms. Also loving Simpson leading by example and looking after her own first. She was also smart enough to recognise a moment where Rudi hadn’t got her feet around Fowler and needed 1 more second to stop the easy ball so Simpson leapt across the circle to block the vision allowing that last step round from Ellis. Being a WD is truly about recognising little moments like that and being smart about them.
Again, as has happened in each Q, Fever build a lead through their own strong play and Firebird errors and a timeout is called. Fever 45-35
Fever haven’t beaten Firebirds since 2015. That changes tonight.
Oh no! Ingrid Colyer is down. It doesn’t look good.
Oh God, Collyer went down with what looked like a classic ACL situation and the players around her knew it
That looked really bad for Colyer, horrible to see. Seeing her go down has really sucked the energy out of the game, reminds me of when Cody Lange went down in Adelaide in 2016.
What did Brazill tweet? She seems to have deleted it.
3/4 time: Fever 55-42
Aiken 33/41 (80%) 0/1 (0%)
Venter 0/0 (0%) 2/3 (67%)Fowler 51/53 (96%)
Teague-Neeld 4/5 (80%) 0/4 (0%)Fever just far too strong for Firebirds today. But they’re probably all thinking about Colyer now. Damn you, ACL injuries!
