Perhaps Ash Braz’s inclusion is a good indicator that they are looking at Price in C.
For CC, Braz, Price, Proud and Hadley is a pretty balanced mid court. Watson could slot back in place of any of them.
I have enjoyed Anstiss’s steadiness in C but I’d need to see her deliver that consistency with a moving circle before thinking she is the real deal.
All of Australia’s best C’s have been steady linking players rather than dominant or explosive. Tombs, NVB, Rav.
Charles is a good back up but shouldn’t be picked ahead of any of the above players IMO. (Although Proud hasn’t been at her absolute best this year).Netballcrazy1ParticipantSeptember 14, 2021 at 11:55 amPost count: 1910
Really good interview with Kim Ravallion regarding her non-selection (not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else).
The Netball Show – Kim Rav
– she was initially shocked not to see her name on the list
– has not been contacted regarding her non-selection by SM (so no feedback)
– Rav says she was probably not in favour over the other midcourters
– she hopes to sneak back into the team though and show SM she deserves to be there
Very candid interview.al_exParticipantSeptember 14, 2021 at 6:41 pmPost count: 951
I’m still very shocked that Rav didn’t make the squad, I would have had her in my 12. I actually assumed she had withdrawn herself. Her form at the Firebirds this year was far stronger than Bueta’s in my opinion.Netballcrazy1ParticipantSeptember 15, 2021 at 11:52 amPost count: 1910
Yep, have to agree. I’m slightly surprised that the coaches haven’t given her an explanation or feedback, given she was definitely a strong contender (even if she wasn’t in the previous year’s squad)schmeetleParticipantSeptember 15, 2021 at 3:52 pmPost count: 164
Has an Australian captain ever been treated so poorly?
Also links poor recent performances of Diamonds since SSN (large number of imports in key positions and non-international rules):
“Players are unsettled that Netball Australia doesn’t provide a competition with international rules for players to perform at benchmark events. The two-point super goal is not a feature of international tournaments.
To put it into context, imagine the Australian cricket team trying to win the Ashes but they are only allowed to play Twenty20 in the lead up?”
