So IMO it’s either the Steel or Tactix that take the 3rd spot. Don’t think the Pulse are good enough
Steel have Magic, Magic, Mystics, Stars, Pulse
Tactix have Magic, Pulse, Pulse, Stars, Magic, MysticsI do favor the Tactix just!!!. A lot will depend on how Bird and Fisher recover.
Nothing to do with Covid at all, but mostly to do with stadiums and travel.
The NZ Basketball comp is on at the same time.
Invercargill, Dunedin, Nelson, Wellington share with the Basketball.
And the Christchurch one is hard to get.The great thing about the ANZ is that games are played at smaller cities.
Something the SSN should be doing.
Full time: Mystics 64-51 (MVP: Sulu Fitzpatrick)
What an abysmal half hearted effort by the Pulse. We need one of the mystics shooters as a second option. Why did Parata not switch Nawai and Jury? Nawai was getting comprehensively outplayed by Nweke. Jury’s natural position is goal keep, especially when there’s a tall holding shooter on the other team..All those other substitutions Parata made, made no difference at all. I’m predicting a few of the top line Pulse players will leave the Pulse at the end of this season.
Agree Kiwikiwi, Dunn looks bored, Jury needs to be playing at GK,
I find it very difficult to watch the Pulse this year. Nothing to rave about.
The Pulse squad looks lost. Kersten looked totally frustrated on court yesterday and there didn’t seem to be any enjoyment of the sport from the team. I didn’t notice Dunn looking any different than usual.
I guess you could say the team is very new and rebuilding – just like the Steel has been. Ellie, Tiana and Renee’s moves to another team are a prime example of what happens when you leave squad members bench sitting for too long and probably were unexpected. But to have two specialist GK on court all the time is not helping. I don’t mind Kelly at GD, it’s certainly going to aid her SF chances, particularly fitness wise but yesterday she needed to be back at GK.
If they are going to persevere with Souness coming on at GA when desperate they definitely need extra trainings to assist her. It’s not as if she has played GA at this level before and a panic change by the coach is unfair, even using her just as a feeder in the circle.Does Pulse not have another shooter?
If they use Souness at GA, she has to go straight to the post (easier said than done). Everyone knows she’s in there to draw a defender, and they weren’t buying into it. They mainly doubled up on Dunn.
She also needs to just play the front space. A few times she was running behind Dunn, taking away that back space.I don’t know why we haven’t seen more of Mason at GD with Jury at GK. She was so good during the Cadbury Series.
Some of the Pulse selections are head scratching.
Unsure if THRSR is going to play on next year with the Steel – know she’s captain this year but seems to be a lot of load managing going on. Anyway, if I were Reinga I would be trying to lure Mason south.
Even if Harrison steps away from the Stars at season’s end, there needs to be space for Karaka in Auckland (if she returns that is). And also if Rore returns, to me at least, Mason is gone from the Pulse anyway?
Do we think the SOS has gone out to YMD to come back to the Pulse coaching role? Nesian you’ve got your ear to the ground in those parts..
I wonder if Dunn will head home and play for the Steel next year? I know Steel tried to get her for this season but she chose to stay at the Pulse so they went after Fisher.
Also Karaka would be a good pick up for the Magic, unless the Mystics are able to make room for her. Burley to Magic would also be a good signing.
If Fisher moves on I think Dunn going back to Steel would be a great career move. Playing with Metuarau, Saunders and Heffernan/Savai’inea might give her the spark she needs to get back in the Ferns. You would think if she went then Wilson would go back to Pulse given how long she’s wanted to move back. Then maybe Mes can be starting GS at Stars.
