Agree about her bench sitting behind Mes. After the way Tui played in Cadbury series she deserves to be playing week in week out. Would be a nice change up from Nweke too.

        Full time: Mystics 64-58

        Mystics:
        Nweke 56/60 (93%)
        Mes 8/9 (89%)

        Assists 59 (Toeava 31)
        Gains 5 (Burley 3)

        Steel:
        Fisher 42/42 (100%)
        Metuarau 16/21 (76%)

        Assists 52 (Heffernan 17)
        Gains 7 (Fifita 4)

        Penalties: Steel 54-50
        Turnovers: Steel 19-15

        MVP: Kate Burley

Do you agree with Burley MVP?

Good win for Mystics! High scoring attack-dominated game. Fisher shot 42/42 but even that wasn’t enough because Nweke shot 56/60! Another 31 assists for Toeava!

Not sure about Burley being MVP. I would have given it to Sulu.
Fisher shot well, but got stuck behind the defence to often.

Bit baffled by the Steel coach’s decision putting Woulf on – Fifita had way better elevation and was contesting the passes into Nweke. I like Woulf from what I’ve seen of her, but contesting high passes/lobs doesn’t seem to be her strength.

Mystics defence was so good to watch, they were definitely working much better as a unit this week. Agree about Nweke – she does seem less confident, though I don’t think it’s affecting her game very much.

Love Burley as a player but not my MVP tonight.

Shame the Pulse weren’t able to hang on to Tui, she would be a handy GA for them with Ekenasio out.

@enozlas, re Grace, possibly. She’s had a taste of being a future international elite netball now.

Re Tui, I agree with what’s already been said. IMO she should have played in the Magic game, the attack wasn’t firing and she shoots from anyway in the circle.

MVP – should have been Sulu. She marked Fisher out of the game, just like she did Cbass for chunks of the Magic game. But she and Burley worked well as a unit this game.

Fisher first 100% shooting game in ANZP, :yahoo: let’s hope there’ll be many more

High scoring game that was. I still think Steel are capable of beating Mystics easily. It was just that 1st quarter that got away from them. Has Fisher always shot with such accuracy? My gosh that’s scary for internationals.

Mystics were muchly improved from last week. Getting ball to circle edge and delivering safe ball was evident today.

Will be backing the Tactix today against stars. Hopefully Ellie Bird can become a leader on attack today. She will have her work cut out with Harrison. Tactix defence vs Stars attack should be a delight to watch. Can’t wait.

Going to be interesting with Maia today, she got media attention during the week for the facial on Parris Mason.
She often struggles against Jane Watson.

And IMO Fisher is prob the 5th ranked England shooter. Still some work to do to make the Com Games
She is just a GS and doesn’t move much and shots close range.
She really struggled against Jury in the England v NZ series last year,

@Mcleod, whatta yer mean Fisher only shoots from close !! Have a look at her in the last 5 fast series. The Roses were rubbish but her shooting was good. You are right about her position the Roses squad though. 😉

IMO her mistake was moving to Wasps with Greenway. She sat on the bench for 2 sessions behind Dunn (who is also a long range shooter who now only shoots under the post). Fisher can play GA and now that she’s fitter I’d like to see her out there. Also she’s picked up the habit of taking a step forward. Another thing she didn’t do before joining Wasps! B-)

Fisher needs a team that’s built around her. Usually she’s seen as a tall shooter and expected to hold but she likes to pop forward. She does it when she plays for the Roses but doesn’t always get the ball. She did it during the Mystics game too. If she can get the timing right with the Steel middies if could be lethal.

That was happening to me too. I thought it goes like that for me, cause I’m watching from Aus 🤷‍♂️
