Bring back Ekenasio and Watson and play a decent player in the C position. Ferns would have won by plenty more.
I just fail to understand what Noels see in Kersten or Winders at C, they can’t pass to save themselves.I thought Winders was better than Kersten last night, but with Winders at WD (she just steps up so many levels when she goes back there) and when Saunders came on at WA it kinda negated to how poorly Kersten was playing – I really hope Poi/Heffernan get a run in the next couple of games – even Gordon there last night would’ve made more sense!
Agree with mcLeod and Kerryn. I actually thought the Con Cup was the last time we would see Kersten in a Ferns dress given how Poi, especially, came on in Tests 3 and 4. I don’t think anyone was wowed by Claire’s ANZP form either??
Agree again Sam is a real asset in WD. My concern for her going into ANZP 2022 is I currently have money on her seeing the Magic’s WA which I don’t think will help her chances of going to CWG..
I’d like to see Kimi at centre, but also see what Saunders could offer playing there alongside Crampton. Maybe first game captain nerves from Crampton, but think the energy and punch Shannon played with, and those familiar links with Crampton could help kick start that attacking end – especially if Poi isn’t in the 12.
I’m intrigued if Noeline gives Tiana the start at GA in Game 2, or gives the bib to Jamie.
I’d like to see Tiana play again on Wednesday- see if she can back last nights performance up, and if so, that Hume get’s dropped from the 12, as realistically she isn’t a long term fern with Tiana, TPSR, Ekenasio coming back, and even Maia playing out in front of Grace, it feels like it would be a cap that isn’t needed to be given, especially when there’s so many future prospects coming through the ranks
I’d quite like to see (and I know it won’t happen)
GS Grace/Maia
GA Tiana
WA Toeava/Saunders
C Poi/Heffenan
WD Winders
GD Burger
GK Sulu/JuryAs I was only able to watch about 20 minutes of this game, a couple of questions for those who soaked in all 60 minutes of international netball…
1. My first time seeing the “new” (I know it isn’t that new…) short pass rule in action, I reckon The Diamonds are really going to struggle with this. I recall a few people mentioning this in relation to the CC games. Thoughts?
2. The umpires seemed very pendantic about placement of penalty, including instructing which side the out-of-player should stand. One instance Geva was told a couple of times to take a step back and when she finally did, Wilson wriggled forward a little only to be told to step back, then (of course) once the penalty was satisfactorily set took the step in
Is this how NZ and UK umpires set the penalties? Again, I could see the Diamonds struggling with this.
I’m hoping the game can be watched on delay from Australia so I can get a good feel of the game and players other than just snatches of it.

Schmeetle – i hadnt noticed particular attention during ANZ paid to what side a player stood when a penalty was taken. Josh Bowring was one of the umpires and he is from Tasmania although has now umpired in NZ for 2-3 years.
Possibly a rule change? The replay was available on the streaming site this morning. I looked because I cannot watch tomorrow night’s game and wanted to check the games were being shown on replay.
Here’s the link to the game – if the link works …otherwise go to ~ page 7 of this thread for the link that Ian posted

Woo hoo…I can link for the first time in ages…thanks for fixing that Ian.

Oh, I hope that continues, but I’m not confident.
Hey, just a heads up, guys. On that NNZ streaming site, a lot of people complain that they don’t have replays available quickly. Here’s a tip. Click on “Calendar” at the top of the page and you will often find replays there much quicker.
I think Winders did a pretty decent job at C. She balanced the mid court well and didn’t take away space from Crampton. I think Sammie playing WA at magic will just improve her feeding game. A bit like Langman whose played for SF in all three midcourt positions.
I’d like to see Saunders at C for next game. Great connections with Tiana and brings experience to this side. I’d drop Maddy and Kersten next game and bring in Toeava and Heffernan. I’d prefer to see Heffernan at WD rather then C.
I’d love to see Heffernan, Toeava and Nweke get some game time this week!! I really hope we see it happen
We caught up with our newest Silver Fern Tiana Metuarau, who played a leading role in the opening Test against England ??https://t.co/q38H9Dy060
