England has now won 8 of the last 16 test matches against NZ, after only winning 4 of the previous 87!
How about this…
The VNSL has definitely improved! I’m so tuning in to next seasons VNSL. Its as if England just have so much talent to choose from. Also, I’ve never seen Burger so quiet…that second, she’s was a whole different person.
Please don’t bash Jury, I think she works well against tall holding shooters (she shut down Fisher in that first half), however, Cardwell was just a whole different person.
I need to plant a seed… If the Roses can’t fly to Australia, I wonder if they will be invited to field a Roses A team against NZA and the U21s in the Cadbury series.
I’d like to see Ella Clark, Rhea Dixon, Joseph and Vicky O all in action against different opposition.
Jinxibo – re defence. If Sulu isn’t fit I’d pull in Burley to play. She can cover GK/GD well. Communication down that defence end is really key but imo it needs to come from GK – Watson and Sulu are both huge at communicating with their partners, Jury not so/so much.
I’d also wondered about England remaining here for the Cadbury series if the Australian games cant go ahead.

Interesting comments re the AKL players out of the press conference. Ferns management are reapplying for their exemptions to travel from L3 AKL for the Mens series. Otherwise they may stay out of AKL. No confirmation when that was to due to be received so I don’t imagine Crampton, Nweke or Toeava have flown home today?
Judging from comments about Sulu’s knee, she’s out for a few weeks so I imagine likely to miss the upcoming games.
More opportunities for the Jury/Burger combination to develop, and imagine Tong and Lokotui will be crucial to manage player load.
I think the difference now with England is this. In the past, they had a strong starting 7, but if they didn’t go well, that was it. Now, they can go to their bench and bring on someone just as good who can turn things around. And when you consider they have some stars still waiting to play against Australia.
Also interesting, Noels said Con Cup maybe for Nov/Dec.
Also reading on Stuff that the Ferns have rooms in MIQ hotels booked for the end of January, “should they need to return after travelling overseas to play prior to the ANZ Premiership, which will start in March.”
Hmmm a series in England perhaps, or Aussie or…
Re Sulu – I imagine its going to be hard if she is going to play and has to stay down south or out of Auckland. She has two children – 7 or 8 years and her partner has two of the same age which are often under their care.
I’d be surprised if Sulu plays. I wonder if Kayla Johnson will get a look in. I know she is in Auckland, but perhaps they have applied for a exemption. Is Manu’a in NZ yet?? Temalisi,
@McLeod, Kayla is at their property in Maungawhai which I understand is Level 2 so she could fly out of Whangarei and not have to even enter us at Level 3. Tem, I don’t know where she is currently but likely back in Auckland too.
But also the injuries that Crampton and Metaurau are carrying are normally 3-6 week fixes.
Four of the nine development squad are based in Auckland. This next series is a really good chance for both the Ferns bench and the development squad who are not Auckland based to show their stuff. I hope some of them make the most of it. I’m not sure at this stage how they are going to even field a NZA and U21 team given the numbers who potentially will be stuck in Auckland.
I seriously can’t see us going down to Level 2 within the next two weeks – too many unlinked/unconfessed cases up here still and so many people with no idea as to what is going on and what they should be doing.
