I’d agree with the 4 shooters, not sure anyone else will step up next year, mid court I’d say the only locking were crampton and Saunders. Only defence would be Watson and burger, even though burger can be very hot and cold with her play. For the other two mid court and defenders will have to see how the anz champs play out next year for and stand outs or bolters.i personally love the nugget that Winders brings at wd. Id pick her over Gordon for c/wd, even though they’re both really physical players, Winders has a bit more depth to her.
I’d agree with Alex about Johnson, and has Rore even put her hand up for the Ferns? So both wouldn’t be automatics for me till we see them play again. Same with MSB, that’s a lot of surgery to come back from but hopefully she comes back with the same sort of form and play (most unlucky with the timing of her injuries).
Hopefully Noel’s is done with her questionable selections, especially for next year.Maryann I’ve totally forgotten about Tong recovering from her rib fracture! But yes, I feel like despite being short Tong can absolutely jump high enough to compete for ball. And agree with your point re Jury. I feel like she relies on her height and reach too much. If she can jump and with that reach of hers, she’ll be even better!
I’ve never really seen an Australian mens team, where do they stand in terms of mens netball.
Who would get the chocolates between Aus/NZ mens teams?Aussie men’s team used to dominate the men’s scene, especially when Junior Levi used to play for them before aligning back to NZ.
Nowadays not too sure who would they haven’t played each other for a while.82-37
76-44
81-28The scores from the last time Aus and NZ men’s played against each other- all Australia’s way. Levi did play for Aus, but shared court time evenly with Jerome Gillbard. Besides him, the team would majority be the same.

Metuarau was ok, but her shooting still needs to improve.
Jury come on learn to jump, all that height wasted by just standing there.
Kersten I’m not a fan and never will be.
Crampton the number 1 WA,
Gordon for me I still not seeing the excitement, she will get hammered with penalties.
Nweke might need anger management classes.Te Paea, Hume, Toeava. There Ferns days are gone.
The men were a good watch, but come on the GA needs to do more shooting, not a great way to showcase the sport, if the GS gets 93% of the goals.
to above comments re Rore and Johnson –
Rore has indicated a desire to return to International
Johnson is a hard one – she actually lives north of Auckland, in Maungawhai (Northland). Travel time on a good day (never a good day in Auckland) is 1hr50mins from Mangawhai to Manukau (where Stars train). Shaun (playing for Warriors) will be based in Australia for the season which was not in their plans when they returned to NZ (thanks Covid). So with a 13 month old atm and even with family support how well, if at all, will this work?
I’d like to think that Karaka (who is also facing a partner overseas till about June and has a young child) will make herself a contender and also that MSB will come into the season firing after two seasons out with injury).
<<but come on the GA needs to do more shooting, not a great way to showcase the sport, if the GS gets 93% of the goals>>
Ha ha mcleod…you obviously don’t watch Fever in the Australia’s premier netty comp.
it’s interesting people always say that, and kinda agree the load should be shared, however they’re in GS for a reason – to shoot goals!! so maybe not just being totally reliant on the GS to get all the goals is a better way to put it. Yet CBass was constantly criticised this year (mainly by the commentators who had just finished criticising Mes for not putting up many shots) when who ever was on at GA for Magic put up a lot of shots.
if the team is losing ball by the GA always offloading or forcing the ball into the GS then yes there is an issue, but if they’re still winning with the GS doing most of the shooting – what’s the problem? (eg Fever/Mystics)
@Kerryn – good points. You’d have to agree though that using a GA as third feeder makes it an awful lot harder for the selectors to see a GA potential. Metuarau really showed her stuff when Fisher was concussed as until then she had also been mostly off loading to Fisher.
TP, Hume and Toeava were the fails of the squad IMO.
Kersten, so good at WD but not C, needs to be able to show quality play in a second position to really be of value in the squad.
Wilson – if Noels goes with Nweke, Wilson will need to mix GS/GA in the ANZ season.
Burger – love her at GD but she needs a GK behind her who is mobile and will jump. She was exhausted last night, a lot of running for three full games and then having to do all the jumping in the circle as well.Yes I watch the Fever and the Mystics, until I fall asleep.
@maryann 100% if they’re selected as a shooter (whether it be GS or GA) they need to shoot (Which both Meels and Tiana do), that was one of the few things I liked about Maria – she got the ball, she turned, she shot (which has always been what I do playing GS for the better part of 30 years, had so many people over the years that would say I”m here I’m here pass it out etc who I would end up saying, you don’t need to tell me you’re there, I know you are I just got the ball from you, if I want to pass it out I will, but my job is to shoot so I don’t need you screaming at me while I’m doing that) if they get to a professional level they should be doing that. if they want to be a feeder they should play WA. I think one of the most common things I say to the TV when watching – is “shoot the f’n ball” – don’t piss ass round with it and lose it, you can shoot, so shoot – Maia & Aliyah are the two biggest ones which frustrate me with that – they both used to shoot from distance all the time, and now it’s like they prefer to keep their stats up (happenend to both Irene when she moved here and Cat Latu too) that’s one of Jo Hartens point of difference – is that she will still get the ball, turn, and shoot
(sorry for the rant – just had to get that out!! )
Agreed Kerryn, the most frustrating part is watching shooters arse around with it cause then it usually ends up a turnover. Yep stat’s get you into teams nowadays instead of all round play.
I’m not one for wanting people to change their shot mechanics but I think that Nwekes need some work, she’s too arms and legs with her shot, and when she misses, you watch it and both movements are out of sync. Don’t want her to end up like an Aitken, having to rebound every second shot of hers  -
