I went to a Memorial last night to remember a friend who recently died. There were many people there and we were sitting near to each other, very few masks. At the end my friend’s husband gave me a big bear hug and then when my friend and I went our separate ways, she gave me a hug too. I suppose that was normal, but I felt nervous even though here in Melbourne we’ve had two and a half weeks with no locally transmitted cases.
It’s the one year anniversary of Australia getting their first COVID 19 case. With the Australian Open starting here in early Feb, our new normal involves more doom scrolling, or trying to avoid doom scrolling. I feel very very sad for NZ; 30 venues…..fingers crossed there’s great contact tracing that works this time too.
Theres an article in newshub.co.nz about Bailey Mes setting the standard for fitness testing at the recent trials. I’d love to post the link but I can’t post links any more. Half the time I can’t even comment.
It is not just northlanders who should worry about covid all of nz. Our youngest was in Ruakaka last week, the same time of the covid case with others from NZ for the Beach Volleyball nationals. These players have gone back to different parts of NZ. No I don’t think anyone has picked anything up but if they have it just not northland to worry about.
Not sure what the problem is, Maryann.
Bailey Mes sets standard for Silver Ferns on return from injury
I had the same problem Ian, tried posting link after Maryanns comment. Nothing would post. Not even just a comment, unsure if this one will work.
Very scary Kat.Yeah, I cannot post links. But I can post.
Take a look inside last week's training camp where we raised the bar on preparations to take on the Australian Diamonds in the Constellation Cup from 2-7 March.https://t.co/Y8HklUcyKv

Taurua hints at shake up in Ferns

Be a interesting few weeks I guess
“One of the things we’ve got to be prepared for is to build the depth without taking people out” – love this concept!
I watched the video to look for clues, maybe missing a couple of faces but otherwise it gives nothing away.
I didnβt see TPSR in any of the clips (I am known to be blind π€¦ββοΈπ). And Cramptons interview, where she mentions good mates. So I automatically jump to conclusions, and assume sheβs referring to TPSR π€·ββοΈ
I’ll be honest Baller, that quote had me confused lol
Yeah I’d heard that TB from just face book gossip, wait and see I guess.TPSR sat out the end of last year with the achilles issue but of the shooters I would say she is the one that will have to do the most to retain her position in the squad for CC. She certainly has the ability but hasn’t, overall, shown consistency of drive, speed and accuracy. Will have to wait and see I guess.
I thought TPSRβs quarter against the Men in the Cadbury Series showed what sheβs capable of when she puts her mind to it. She dominated that baseline and played with real purpose which was great to see.
Not being picked for CC might be a good thing for her to focus on pre Tactix preseason.
Iβm feeling Ekenasio, Wilson (starting combo) and from what weβve been hearing Mes (as a GA/WA swing) and one other is the pick for the Ferns shooters. I feel TPSR offers a bit more stability than what Falkner would, but would like Falkner to be involved (or perhaps they split the series, TPSR plays ChCh, Falkner in Tauranga)
