Nesian, from your sources, any word how Parris Mason is going in camp? I imagine the youngster is soaking it all up – a future Fern for sure.

Think you might be right re Bailey/Meels/Maia but don’t think they’ll be in a 4th shooter (just by what Noels has said). Noels by the sounds will whatever it takes and it mightnt be the norm.

          Might be right Minkie.

Am thinking the below is probably the likely make-up, esp after last year’s TJ Series.

Ekenasio, Mes, Wilson + 1 other
          Crampton, Kersten, Saunders, Sinclair, Poi/Gordon
          Burger, Fitzpatrick, Watson

If Bailey is meant to be a WA option then I reckon we need a fourth shooter.

Or is it three shooters, five middies, the three defenders above, plus Jury for some added height?

Do we know when the 12 is announced? Is it following this camp or closer to the series?

              I’m predicting:
              3 shooters
5 midcourters (depth without adding players/use them or lose them approach)
3 defenders + one surprise in defence

Pretty much the same players as you WeWood

Enjoyed Fitzpatrick/Jury interchanging in the TJ series.

Yeah I think Fitzpatrick and Jury share that GK bib nicely, and thought Watson and Fitzpatrick had a particularly good combo.

I’m really hoping we see Watson and Burger in the circle together. I think with no Bueta for the series that pairing is a goer.

WeWood – I don’t think selection is within the next couple of weeks as Noels mentions that the coming weeks would determine Baileys selection for the series. She is also being managed but to what degree I have no idea but she herself says she is good to go and with her experience in regards to knee issues I would expect her to know.

Agree Mariann, listening to Noels words, shes rapt with how things are now but the next few weeks will sort out in her mind who the team will be. Nothings a given. Really think Noels will do things differently, it’s only 4 games so Meels/Maia should manage that hands down.

I’m thinking if Bailey Mes is cleared, they’ll add her to the 3 they already have in the team (Eke Wilson and Falkner).
They may drop one of the middies, which could possibly be Souness. As I don’t feel they need 2 WA specialists, as they would have Mes and Saunders as backup. I would prefer Crampton to be dropped, but can’t see that happening.

The Con Cup is 4 games in 6 days. There is almost no way that the Maia/Meels combo will play every minute of every game.
I fully expect that if Bailey is 100% fit (knee wise). She will be selected as a GS/GA/WA option.
The Diamonds are taking a extended squad to NZ, so be interesting to see if Noels does the same, and reduces it to 12 on each game day.

                          Just catching up…
                          – sent home from camp, Jury, Grace, Kersten and Gordan were on my list. Jury and Grace because they only just scrapped it last time. Kersten and Gordan because their selections were a bit of a surprise so they may not have following the Ferns fitness regime. When i red these posts i had to laugh, i hadn’t even considered Erena.
                          – didn’t see Jury, Grace, Tem, TPSR or Saunders in the clip on twitter but I did see Ong and Oceane ??
                          – I think Mes Faulkner will make the cut
                          – BACK TO NORMAL   OOMG i’m in week 4 of Tier 4 lockdown (I think, all days seem to be the same) I can only leave the house to shop for food, exercise or get my medication. The schools are closed and only essential shops are open. In snowed on Sunday and now there is talk of having to get our pets vaccinated against covid. Help 😥 😥

Jinxing do you have it confirmed Gordon, Kersten et al were sent home or are they your picks? Both are super fit and unless under injury clouds I would imagine they were shoo-ins for fitness testing.

In my mind, the first five that came to mind were Bird, Dunn, Nweke, TPSR (more so still working through her injury from end of last year) and Mikaere (after reading she had announced herself). Anyone know how Fakahokotau is doing?

Just tried to post the link to the Stuff article where Taurua is discussing fitness testing.

The short of it is she wouldn’t name the 5, but is disappointed because it’s their job as (semi) professional athletes to turn up in condition, however does say return from injury affected a few cases. It also says (which we’ve heard before) that she doesn’t find the 16.3 YoYo particularly taxing and if she had her way it would be 17.

From what I can gather from the article’s photo, Kersten and Gordon are definitely there. It also says “Stuff understands the team will be light defensively.” Can definitely make out Burger, Watson and Fitzpatrick in the shot. To other comments re Tong and Maihi being at the camp, wonder if they got the call up for extra bodies?

Notable absentees from the pic are the names I listed above (which is more than 5). Nesian surely you have more intel!

                                  Cheer @WeWood.

Sorry I should have been clearer, Kersten and Gordon were my initial picks. Have to admit I wasn’t thinking about the wider squad.

I saw both Kersten and Gordon in the pics, didn’t see Poi but there is no way she’d fail a fitness test.
“Can definitely make out Burger, Watson and Fitzpatrick in the shot” yep I agree with that. I’m assuming Tong and Maihi wouldn’t be subject the the fitness test.

I like your picks Bird, Dunn, Nweke, TPSR and Mikaere didn’t see any of them but I didn’t see Jury or Saunders either.
