Souness Saunders Kersten Winders

Watson Sulu Burger Jury

I know Crampton will be in the team, but I prefer Souness/Saunders combination. Kersten and Winders can both cover WD/C, also both players already have a combination with Souness.

Stuff has an article that says they are planning for the possibility that this comp will be held in Australia.

In The Age today our Health Minister (cough!) Mr Hunt said as there are no further community cases of COVID-19 in NZ, that NZ’ers can come to Australia without needing to quarantine.

Interesting choice, play games in NZ and Diamonds need to quarantine; or play games in Australia and Ferns won’t need to quarantine.

That’s today’s options….depends what happens tomorrow, the day after, next week, middle of Feb when the Australian Open is being played here in Melbourne…later in Feb…early March….this virus is doing my head in.

It would all be so much easier if the NZL border was open to specific states. I understand why they haven’t wanted to open to the eastern states with the COVID scares but there’s no reason why they can’t play in Perth/Adelaide and then play matches in NZL without quarantine. When did WA last have community transmission?

The Covid cases have not spread in the community. They came from people who clearly did not follow instructions during their isolation stay.
Nothing has spread in the community.
IMO by the end of next week, parts of Aus will welcome NZers with open arms.

Brendan Egan needs a kick where the sun doesn’t shine. He fails to mention whether Kelly was close in her fitness test or not, or had a injury as Noels had said a few players weren’t picked. But he’s made his whole speculated article come across as her failure – sad. I’d love for Noels final picks to put egg on his face.

The fact that more players are failing the fitness standard makes me even more suspicious about how Nweke supposedly passed it at the eleventh hour before Cadbury series. I just don’t see how Nweke is more fit than Dunn, Jury and Faka.

@waylay, is she getting overlooked??

I agreed that she deserves to be part of the development squad but wasn’t she formally named in NZA? whereas Maihi and Tong were called up due to injuries. I’m sure Burley would have been invited to this camp but isn’t available for reasons unknown.

Nope Kate Burley wasn’t named in the NZA squad. Some of the squad selections are a joke
Jamie Hume!!!, terrible shooting %%. Tayla Earle poor season.
Players like Burley, Pedersen, Elley great season. And yet nothing.
Mikaere makes the squad, and Burley doesn’t!!!!. But Mikaere seems to be a buddy.

I’d be interested to see if being so public about being lighter in defence changes the diamonds approach to the ferns. Do they try and rotate attack and perhaps bring extra to keep legs fresh and punish any fatigue? Especially with the selections being relatively straightforward for ferns defence and more complicated for diamonds attack!
