Plenty to like about that, Magpie Army! We take Game One against the Swifts 🤩 pic.twitter.com/iuiI1Lt5rR

I really don’t understand this series from the Swifts perspective. The only players here who are likely to even make a Swifts 10 are Moore, Turner, Wallace, Fraser and maybe Burgess or O’Shannassy. I guess it’s good to get some experience into players like Singleton but I’m not sure how much it will help them getting monstered by a full strength Collingwood team.
JWT comments has made a stir on Twitter.
In what regard?
She said something along the lines of “hopefully no pregnancies….or injuries” in the Magpies camp. Someone on Twitter made a comment about it and tagged Chelsea Pitman.
I’ve seen it on the video. It’s not as bad as it’s being made out to be. She was joking really.
Yeah I didn’t think the comment was really that bad. Obviously pregnancy is very special and something to be celebrated by all, but it’s not that surprising that it can cause big disruptions from a team management perspective. It was clearly made in jest, but I understand why some didn’t appreciate the comment.
As much as I am no JWT fan I think these comments were taken out of context. Yes perhaps they were thoughtless or tactless but in no way were they intended towards Pitman. If so then the comment of no injuries this year could be linked to a clearly unrelated player like Eddy or Turner. Which it obviously isn’t.
I agree with the comments re timing of these matches. Great for Collingwood and their confidence. But what do Swifts have to gain with more than half of their top 10 unavailable and Turner probably still on the injury comeback (there was a lot more to that injury than was released I feel). Match play for their benchies and academy players sure but getting belted can’t be great for their confidence. None the less nice to O’Shannessy make a come back. First game in a long time after Achilles and mono?
Anyone know the scores for the Thunderbirds and Giants’ pre-season matches?
Playing now. Giants 60-35 at 3/4 time. Giants won all 3 quarters so far including 29-12 in the first quarter.
Wow… that is unsettling.
