Wow, Fever looked like deers in head lights for first 8 minutes. last 7 were as i expected. Bruce really does struggle to have her usual impact on Kumwenda though.

Score starting to get a little ugly for Vixens. Vixens defense remains amazing.

Wonderful to see ATN play with such confidence. Would like to see her get a go at WA and Glasgow at GA. Cosh isn’t dominate enough. They’ll need more in WA against the best teams.

Barkmeyer on at GA……Barkmeyer free at the top. Mundy chooses double teamed MJ. Fever ball.

Fever up by 9. Getting nasty.

Time out. Turnovers hurting Vixens. 3 against Mundy and 3 against Stanton who’s been replaced by Barkmeyer. Fever up 25-16

            Moloney “it’s 8 goals that’s nothing”… Kate that’d be 9

Super shot for Barkmeyer. Great to see her have the confidence to take the shot.

Barkmeyer brought some nice movement. Wouldn’t mind seeing her at WA. Often available and her teammates aren’t letting it go.

Mundy had a good start but has gone very quiet on the feed. I don’t think she had a goal assist in that quarter whereas she looked great on the feed in the first quarter. Hoping to see Smith in C with Moloney at WA. Might end in disaster but worth a go.

Moloney holding things together. Their defense keeping them within an okay distance.

Fowler dominating. Anstiss would have next to nothing on the stats sheet but is shutting down a lot.

Overall not the best game from either team. But it is round 1.

                  1/2 time: Fever 34-27

                  Kumwenda 18/19 (95%) 1/1 (100%)
                  Barkmeyer 1/1 (100%) 1/1 (100%)

                  Fowler 28/28 (100%)
                  Teague-Neeld 2/3 (67%) 2/3 (67%)

Kate Moloney is doing all of Liz Watson’s work!

Vixens hit back in the power play with 2 super shots to narrow the gap.

I genuinely mean this as a compliment, but its quite incredible to see ATN sinking supershots, if you compare her confidence to back at Magpies. I think Fever recruited brilliantly -and Fowler obviously gives her the confidence to put them up – im still in shock for a moment each time she sinks one!

ATN started to improve last year I thought. I hope we see Glasgow in for Fowler in the super shot time slot. She has a nice shot.

Vixens still in this game, just need to tidy up those turn overs.

                        Timeout: Fever 40-33

Vixens are really taking it to Fever. Dehaney doing a good job at pressuring Fowler and she’s missed a few she would normally have scored.

Dehaney is unreal. Her best game by a long way.

Vixens need a change in WA. 4 goal assists is not enough. In saying this Mundy will grow from this year and is already looking better than she did in preseason.

Moloney is proving a lot of critics wrong today. Stepping up. Play all year like this and she is the Diamond C.

Barkmeyer will be the starting GA by the end of the year. She does need to keep her shooting volume up though. Such a massive step up from any level she has played at before.

Fever do need to develop an alternative midcourt option so I do understand why they made a change at half time. I’m just not sure Anstiss in C is the answer. Why not try ATN in WA now that Glasgow is on and push Charles and Anstiss back up court.

Wow, game of Dehaney’s life so far and then she blocks a super shot. When you’re on a roll, you’re in a roll am I right?!

                              3/4 time: Fever 47-38

                              Kumwenda 27/28 (96%) 1/1 (100%)
                              Barkmeyer 3/4 (75%) 1/1 (100%)

                              Fowler 39/43 (91%)
                              Glasgow 0/0 (0%) 1/1 (100%)

Really a game of turnovers. Vixens have made some basic errors at bad times.

Dehaney is really putting the pressure on Fowler.

Smith on at WD for Eddy. Eddy was quiet by her usual standards.

                                No changes for Fever.

Vixens will do well to keep it under 10.

Come on Simone let’s try Smith in C with Moloney at WA. There are no options in attack.
