She heard you Tully!
Well they hung in for awhile. They’ll get better. Not sure I’ve seen anything that will keep them from the wooden spoon
I was liking Smith in C! Maloney was having to do an unbelievable amount of work! Now Mundy on at C?
Stanton’s hold is looking good at GS
Seeing McKinnis quietly thinking “well I made Thwaites a GA, can I make Kumwenda a GA???”
Yeah it ended in disaster score wise Montyandpoppy …. but still happy they tried it. I actually thought Smith brought nice speed to the court and they should continue to explore it. They need to see what might work. For that reason I’d like to see Barkmeyer in WA. She looks to read the game well and has a nice link in to both Stanton and Kumwenda. Again surely worth a try. Nothing to lose. Moloney was having to do way too much work.
Going to be a long season for Vixens. Hopefully it pays off with the development of Mundy, Barkmeyer and Smith.

There it is. Fever wins comfortably in the end by 14, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Vixens pressured them, but were outclassed in the end.
With that win, Fever moves up to -8 on the ladder.

Good game for Fever. Not that those points will count. ?
Vixens not looking as horrible as I thought. Moloney sure has her work cut out this year. WA and GA is a problem. None are up for it yet, but improvement may come over the season.
The 2 point shot wasn’t very relevant in this game. But I’m sure Giants will put on a show when they play.
Fowler is player of the match?! I know she had the most NNP, but Sunday Aryang was incredible and really broke down the Vixens attack. She was my POM
I thought ATN and Sunday Aryang were great for the fever. Both played very confidently and were the game changers.
I really enjoyed some moments from the vixens! Lots of potential. Give it a few more games and the link between Munday and Barkmeyer will really start to pay off. Funnily enough, Vixens are the new underdogs in this competition
You can’t read that much into it because the match was already won and Aryang was off but I really liked the Stanton/Barkmeyer combo, it’s obvious they’ve had a pre-season together. I’d also like to see Barkmeyer get a go at WA, Mundy has talent but she looked unsettled and was a bit erratic.
To be honest I was most disappointed with Vixens’ more established performers. Obviously Moloney and Kumwenda have a lot of pressure on them but I didn’t think either were great. Weston, Eddy and Mannix got very quiet after the first quarter. Dehaney was a standout, hopefully she can back it up because she’s had a few great games against Fowler before and struggled to bring consistent performances. Smith was strong as always, she played much better in C than she has previously.
I was impressed with Glasgow, I think going forward she’ll take the starting bib off ATN. ATN and Cosh should be playing the other way around; ATN’s shot is still way too shaky but she’s a great play-maker. Aryang was awesome, I could see un in the Diamonds soon. She’s a lot cleaner than Jenner.
I don’t think the Vixens will come last, they have too much experience and are too well-coached. Losing three players (one of which was a bench-warmer) doesn’t automatically take a team from first to last. Top 6 might be tough though.

Aryang MVP for me. She safely carried so much ball out of defence.
Vixens experienced players in defence didn’t do enough to keep the Fever C and WA off the goal circle. The ball was going in to Fowler far too easily far too often. Dehaney did a great job. I’d have left her on, put Mannix out to GD and Weston to WD. Needed to try something earlier on.
