Oh no Kip
Hopefully not as bad as it looked.
Sophie Dwyer is about to show everyone how amazing she already is.
OH NO!!! Kiera Austin goes down and it looked like a dreaded you know what.
Please don’t let it be an ACL. PLEASE!!!
A Cox said, Sterling and Garrett are not playing together, both chasing their own players down. It makes it look as though there is no strategy and no plan. The defensive unit does not exist and it’s allowing the Giants attack to do as they please, for the most part.
Gooden on, hopefully, she holds onto her pre-season form, if she does then this might help with the attacking flow. Potgieter the problem though.
I wonder if a Gooden/Horjus circle was ever tested…
Giants out to an 11 goal lead (2 super shots from Harten), Dwyer has fit in seamlessly. Sterling is about to have one of the lowest NNP matches of her career.
3 straight supershots from Gooden! The scoreline is far from pretty but love what we’re seeing from her.
The last transition from Poolman to Harten took three passes… this defensive circle is not looking good at all.
There was a lot of hype and love last year for Horjus and Dwan. Not taking anything away from either of them as they are both fantastic. But for mine Dwyer is the next GA to really breakthrough.
There does seem to be a clear top 5 in the comp.
Would like to see TBirds try Van Der Merwe in GD
Wonder what Elle McDonald is thinking…. could have been starting 7 playing full games in Melbourne
I know she’s done an amazing job at proving people wrong, but I really think Horjus is too short to be a shooter, especially in the regular version of the game. At least at a Diamonds level. From the two point shot range height plays less of a roll because of the angle of the shot, but I think she’d really struggle to get the ball over the top international defenders.
I really hope everything is ok with Austin, it looked pretty bad though
Hopefully Dwyer can take this opportunity with two hands, she’s an amazing player.
1/2 time: Giants 36-25
The end of that quarter saw it raining super shots from both sides. But I don’t know about anyone else. It’s just a bit hard to get into a match after seeing a player suffer a serious knee injury as happened to Kiera.
I really hope it isn’t what it looks like for Kippa! Not an ideal situation for a debut but Sophie Dwyer has come on with so much poise. I’ve seen a lot of her at ANL and she was always going to be a star.
I agree al_ex Horjus’ future is as a GA / WA swing. At underage level for SA Horjus was regularly at WA with Nyah Allen at GA.
If WYC had proceeded I think Dwyer and Austin would have been the shooting circle with Horjus at WA. Still has lots to give in GA but WA may well be the spot she ends up in.I agree, if Horjus makes it to the Diamonds, I think it will be as a WA with GA as her back up. It’s unfortunate as I think she is a great representation of how you don’t need to be tall to make it in this sport.
Really unfortunate to see Austin go down but wow, Dwyer has come on so well. She and Dwan are really going to compete with other young shooters for positions in the Diamonds squad in the next few years.
