Ooh Horjus moves GS, Sterling off (that’s a first) and Wilson moves to GK with Nankivell at WD. I would have tried Sterling at GK and Wilson at GD to be honest.

There is NO defensive pressure down the Thunderbirds’ defensive end.

Petty did well to save a ball going out and somehow saves it but has to be helped up by the three trainers she fell into. She’s been knocked down and gotten back up so many times today.

Fitzgerald beaming, that pretty much describes the scoreline.

Giants are slick. Wouldn’t surprise me if they are in the GF.

I know TBirds defensive circle is struggling but the ball is flying down the court. TBirds need to tighten their full court defense and also transition defense to give their circle defenders a chance. Coming down way too quick at them.

                3/4 time: Giants 53-39

Giants just too classy all over the court really. Interesting that Thunderbirds have tried three players at WA today and none have really succeeded. Hmmm.

19 positional changes from the Thunderbirds… wow.

The many changes at WA have not been very fruitful, hmmm maybe you should have held on to Pitman, Obst?

The ease with which the Giants are able to move the ball around makes it feel like they’re running a drill in training. I feel a year of frustration coming for Thunderbirds fans.

Jo Harten scores another super shot at the death to level the final Q. A comfortable win for Giants which was never really in doubt, soured by the injury to Austin. She was just seen on screen, on crutches.

TBirds are a team that would have really benefitted from game day squads of 12. TBirds and Giants have the strongest TP cohorts this year IMO. Today the TBirds really missed Tayla Williams who they have had playing exceptionally well all pre season. Of course they can still adjust their 10 and if Williams continues to train as she has been playing and play well in the SA league then I wouldn’t be surprised to see Obst make a change to add her in. Likewise with Lucy Austin, if Horjus is to be used in WA there is no reason they can’t add another shooter it o the 10 to provide a change up from Potgeiter.

Would be interested in some opinions on a couple of players who dominated the super shot last year but struggled this weekend.

                            Sinclair: 4/9
                            Horjus: 0/5
                            Dwan: 3/6

Just coincidence all 3 didn’t have their best game super shot wise? Have teams done their homework on these players to make it harder for them to get into the positions they like to shoot from?

Today’s matches are up on 9Now! Not sure what happened to yesterday’s Magpies and Lightning match though.

Tully I think you have a good point. Watching the games it seems that all those players did find it difficult to get into a good position. It will be interesting to see if it continues.

                                  T-birds v Giants
How many ACLs etc have happened on that court in recent years? My impression is that it seems like a lot without actually having any numbers?

Also, I really wish they could have a game day 12 again.

                                  Swifts v Firebirds
Really enjoyed watching this game, it was a surprise for the first round. Amazing to see Bueta back and in that form and loved the smile on her face. The Firebirds look a different team to last season.
I think that the Swifts lack a bit of WD cover. Turner and Hadley are their only real options and I think Turner is really needed in GD and if they need Hadley elsewhere they are in a bit of a bind.
