1/2 time: Swifts 31-15
Kumwenda 8/10, Stanton 5/7, Barkmeyer 1/3
Wallace 20/20, Housby 7/9, Garbin 3/4Swifts totally dominant! Sarah Klau 7 gains in a half!!! Really feel Sophie Garbin is not nearly as effective at GA as she is at GS though.
Sometimes I think Vixens only need a couple of roster tweaks for 2022 then they perform like this and it’s clear they need a total overhaul. Mundy is going to be a star and should be the 2022 starting C with Watson at WA. Vixens have a very tough choice to make next year as to whether they retain Mannix or Weston. They can’t keep both. They need to keep Dehaney and Eddy and play Eddy in GD. Dehaney is their ball winner. Eddy plays all 3 defensive positions. I’d keep Weston. Don’t see room for two players who predominantly play GK. If Eddy is in the circle then Smith and Moloney can play WD. Moloney’s only chance for starting 7 next year should be the WD bib but I’d personally put Smith there with her speed and drive through court. Samason has earned a contract but they still need to hit the recruitment path for a speedy GA.
Today Vixens should try Moloney in WD, Smith C and Mundy at WA. Eddy to GD.

When was the decision made that Moloney shouldn’t play WD anymore? I’ve never seen anyone be so good at a position (as she was up until 2017) get moved out and never be played again. It’s even more strange when you consider that attack has always been her weakness.
Haythornthwaite on is a good decision considering the score and Proud’s turnovers. The Vixens seem much more settled.
Lots of handling errors/dropped balls for the Swifts. Not being able to train has surely had an effect on their attack today.
Bruce/Aryang and Klau/Turner are the best Australian circle combinations. It’s quite rare that both players have a bad game at the same time. Both Turner and Aryang are good on attack as well. Hopefully all four get picked for the Diamonds.
The Swifts attack have been disjointed but considering their circumstances the last two weeks have been absolutely extraordinary. It would be nice to see a bit of Garbin at GS.
What the lowest ever score for a team in the SSN, anyone know
Seb, it’s not Melbourne …..it’s Vixens.
So this last Q shows what a farce the 2 point shot is. Vixens should be nowhere near 14 points behind the Swifts.
More like 20+I’m really unsure if Weston should be selected into the Diamonds at this point
Klau and Moore weren’t even defending the shot when Kumwenda hit those 6 super shots. The Swifts really should have won by 20-25, but their percentage is tracking quite well all things considered.
Garbin with another nice entrance at GS. I still think she’s the second best GS for Australia after Koenen but it’s so tough to get court time in SSN.
Vixens attack played a great last quarter even considering how inflated their score was by the super shots. They clearly relaxed after the score blew out.
Full time: Swifts 62-48 (MVP: Sarah Klau)
Incredibly, Vixens scored 23 in the last Q, just 2 less than they scored in the first 3 quarters combined. Sarah Klau a very well deserved MVP. She had 11 gains in the match, 7 in the first half to set up this win.
1/4 time: Lightning 17-16
Fowler 13/13, Teague-Neeld 2/2
Koenen 13/13, Wood 4/4Very competitive game. Lightning heavily penalised, especially for them. All shooters on 100%. 6 turnovers each.
