The Swifts have a lost quite a bit of momentum since their games in Melbourne. I guess it’s not overly surprising considering the travel, but they seem very disconnected on defence. Two weeks in a row that the ball has been moving through WD and GD too quickly. I think they need to persevere with Fraser at WD against faster WAs like Browne, Scherian etc. she’s able to match their speed. I think they might be too far ahead but their finals spot is really at risk, considering their next two matches are against teams they’ve lost to.
Mi Mi always plays well against Francis-Bayman so would definitely see her coming on for Dunkley
Really entertaining to see the teams in 4, 5, and 6th spot all taking each other on in the final three rounds. Fever of course have the massive advantage of being ahead on points a fabulous goal difference.
12 – Fbirds v Fever
13 – Fbirds v Magpies
14 – Fever v MagpiesBut I’m so excited to see all these “upsets” by teams like Magpies and Firebirds peaking late in the season.
Still thinking Fever will be the one to make the finals though.
can anyone call who will be Top 4. feeling confident about the Swifts a few weeks ago but now feel like they could be fading like last season. would be great if it went down to the Final round to see who will finish top 4
An even start, just one turnover in it. And that’s all there has been. One turnover in half of the first Q. Fever up 11-9
Into the power 5. Interesting to see how things go. In the match earlier in the year, Firebirds outscored Fever in the 40 mins of regular play, but lost badly in the 20 minutes of power play.
Firebirds’ problem with the power 5 continues. Heading into the power play, Firebirds trailed by just 1 and they actually took the lead not long after. But at 1/4 time, after the power play is over, they now trail by 5!
1/4 time: Fever 20-15
Fowler 19/20 (95%)
Teague-Neeld 1/1 (100%)Aiken 8/10 (89%)
Bueta 7/7 (100%)Penalties: Firebirds16-6
Turnovers: Firebirds 5-2Sunday Aryang is such a talent, not just athletically but also on attack and in her general elusiveness. I’m sure Stacey will get a lot of criticism if Fever girls make the Diamonds (and it would be deserved if the midcourters make the 12), but Aryang/Bruce seems to be far and away our best combination.
1/2 time: Fever 41-35
Fowler 33/34 (97%)
Teague-Neeld 6/7 (86%)Aiken 20/24 (83%)
Bueta 13/15 (87%)Assists: Charles 17, Teague-Neeld 11, Ravaillion 10
Penalties: Firebirds 28-11
Turnovers: Firebirds 9-6Firebirds have cut into the margin on occasions, but no sooner do the do that than they make an error. They have 9 turnovers to half time which is not a huge number, but Fever only have 6! Likewise Fever has only been penalised 11 times in the half! Incredible.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want Firebirds to win this
Firebirds reduced the margin to just 1 but lost it! Back out to 5
Bueta starting to get a bit shaky, some of the passes and ball-handling have been pretty bad the last few minutes. Fever should look to bring on Cosh and move Charles back, Anstiss isn’t offering anything on attack.
Oh no, Jemma Mi Mi!
