Good result for the Swifts and just what was needed. Again what is going on with Haythornwaite, they are winning and she still couldn’t get on. Is she injured? Looked at her on the sidelines and felt for her, the only one not to come on. Hopefully they are looking after her. lockdown is hard mentally and not getting a game must affect her.

Vixens up 11-9 as we enter the power 5

              1/4 time: Vixens 16-13

              Kumwenda 11/14, Stanton 4/4
              Aiken 9/11, Bueta 4/6

Vixens really on their game from the start. This is a battle of the most penalised sides in the comp. So far Firebirds 17-9 in that regard

Good battle between Ravailion and Moloney.

A 7-4 run to Firebirds to start the 2nd Q and we’re locked up at 20-20. A few errors down the Vixens attack end.

                  1/2 time: Firebirds 32-27

                  Kumwenda 20/23, Stanton 6/7
                  Aiken 24/26, Bueta 8/11

                  Penalties: Fire 36-25
                  Turnovers: Vix 13-10

That quarter it all turned around. 19-11 to the Firebirds including 15/15 from Aiken to go with 3 assists, 1 gain and 1 rebound!

Gotta say, I don’t get all the people (both here and on Facebook) questioning why Haythornthwaite isn’t getting on court. For me she’s the 4th best WA in the team, certainly not forcing herself to be selected. And not a genuine option in any other position.

Sure, she could get a run when the Swifts are up and the game is a sure thing, but I’d argue Swifts need to settle on their strongest lineup in the lead up to finals. And are people calling for Shimmin, Cosh, Moore, Lewis, McCollin etc. to be getting more court time? Not to the same extent. The fixation on Haythornthwaite doesn’t make sense to me. Sometimes you’re a bench player, and simply not as strong as others in the same position in your team

Just saw that Nankivell injury replay… I think it’s an ACL which sucks because it’s right at the end of the season which means she probably won’t be back until the latter half of next season. Hoping I’m wrong though.

Vixens hit the front halfway through that Q, but Firebirds steadied and go to the break 4 up. Not sure why Tippah Dwan was taking so many super shot attempts though. They were doing fine without them.

Okay, 56-56 now with 4 minutes left as Firebirds call a timeout. Who wins from here???

In relation to Haythornwaite I’m biased because I want to see play because will be good for the English🌹 One thing is certain she is coming home next season

Bakewell-Doran has had a great game and comes up with a brilliant play to seal the game for Firebirds!

Has anyone else noticed that if you turn on Netball Live notifications, they’re very ill-timed. Like I’ll get a notification saying something like ‘Red hot alert: five minutes left and one goal difference’ but then I’ll click the notification and the game will have already ended.

For me Haythornthwaite was lucky to get so much court time at the beginning of the year. Fraser has been a stronger midcourter than her for a while now in my opinion.

It was great to see Garbin get the start, Akle made good substitutions today. I think she’s probably got herself back in the Diamonds, and might even be the starting Swifts GS now. Next week is huge for the Top 4, being in the major SF is a big advantage.
