Bueta absolutely running rings around Mentor back in GS. She combines her movement with her strength on the hold so well.
Magpies still too messy in attack. Browne and Brazill are too experienced to make this many basic errors.
48/49 so far by Nelson. She’s stood tall today. Magpies by 2 with 4mins left.
The umpiring has been pretty poor this game – Braz’s replay and a step from Nelson on her split all right in front of the umpire within one minute.
Great win by Magpies. Newton had a great impact but Nelson was extraordinary. Made a lot of average feeds from Brazill and Browne look great. She has to be MVP.
Told ya! Last year when they couldn’t beat anyone else, Magpies beat Firebirds. And they’ve done it again. Even though it was always close, they looked the more likely for the majority of the game.
Shimona Nelson a well deserved player of the match. She was as solid as a rock all game and the consistency with which Magpies were able to find her and score, made it hard for Firebirds to mount a challenge.

I thought Glasgow mightve got the start but I guess they like her impact and not giving defenders time to adjust
I wonder if Fever are worried about Glasgow’s ability to run out a full game. Fever have had three bad first quarters in a row with ATN but still she gets the start.
Sterling and Petty have started excellently.
1/4 time: Tbirds 21-13
That first Q reminded me a lot of Lightning’s first Q against Fever. They did just about everything perfectly. If they play anything like that for 4 quarters, they’ll win. But Lightning couldn’t manage to keep it up. Will Tbirds?
Fever just quietly working their way back into the game. The efficiency of Adelaide’s game in the first Q has disappeared. Tbirds 26-21
Matilda Garrett has gone off with an arm injury. Didn’t look great, but let’s hope she’s okay. Tbirds 28-22
1/2 time: 31-31
Just as with the Lightning game, Fever caught up all the goals they gave up in the first Q, to be dead level at half time. Will they go on with it from here? Probably. But let’s hope Thunderbirds give this a red hot crack. Good game.
3/4 time: Fever 55-48
The longer this game has gone on, Fever has just worn Tbirds down and taken control. As great as it would be, it’s hard to see Adelaide lifting themselves back up to challenge. The Tbirds’ turnover count by quarter is 2, 5, 8…
