Thunderbirds not done with. Score 57-53
2 1/2 minutes to go, T’Birds 8 down and Annie the super commentator suggests there will be extra time.
Full time: Fever 70-62
Good game! Thunderbirds started so well, but couldn’t hold on. They still showed lots of fight. For Fever, it was the bookends once again (Fowler and Bruce) who led the way. Anstiss also good and I love the way Glasgow is playing.

I think Glasgow might get the fourth shooter spot for the Diamonds this year, unless Garbin has a breakthrough at the Swifts. She’s so steady, shoots well and has adjusted to the GA position really well. I could see her combining nicely with Koenen, Tippett and Wood across GS and GA. Surely Fever will have to give her the start soon, they can’t afford to go down 5-10 goals every game they play. Obviously that’s not all down to ATN but she’s definitely not offering as much as Glasgow is right now.
That was definitely the best game I’ve ever seen Petty play.
Alice Teague-Neeld and Sasha Glasgow have played almost the same amount at GA for Fever this year (Glasgow 2 minutes more). There are other factors involved here for sure, but if we’re just talking purely in numbers…

There’s no method to the madness in Akle’s changes. Garbin on for Housby with 2 minutes left made no sense. The attack end was fine, if there was any problem it was probably Haythornthwaite running to the pocket on every play.
I think Moore and Turner need to switch, Scherian is dominating Moore and Turner’s just that bit faster.
1/4 time: 18-18
Great game. If that’s any indication of the next three quarters, we’re in for one hell of a match! End to end stuff, great skills, top quality netball, low turnover rate, little to choose between the two teams. Can’t pick a winner.
Swifts looking dangerous early in the 2nd Q and looking to take some sort of control. Up 23-20 as we go to a timeout. Once again, Wallace and Klau proving influential.
WOW! Koenen had a chance to put Lightning in front at the end, missed from close range, Swifts got possession and sent the ball down court in almost no time at all and ended up with Housby sinking a goal in the final second. (She’s rather good at that)
Very close match, the teams are really matching each other’s level.
It’s made more difficult by the fact she’s constantly getting pulled on and off, but Housby has regressed a bit. She doesn’t shoot as much as she used to and she’s been caught a few times not running onto the ball. The attack end is a bit too frenetic at times.
Moore is being comfortably beaten, so either put Fraser/Hadley in there directly or switch Moore and Turner.
I’d really like to see the Swifts bring on Fraser. Cassidy is having more impact as the Swifts are throwing some impossible passes at poor Hadley.
Hadley is so calm and reliable.1/2 time: Swifts 33-32
What a great game this is so far. Seriously top quality. Both sides with 35 attempts and just 8 turnovers. Can they keep this up for 60 minutes? That will be something.
Koenen 20/22, Wood 9/13, Wallace 23/25, Housby 6/7, Garbin 2/3
Lightning 44-42 as we go to a timeout. Who knows which team is going to come out on top here, but it sure is exciting!
