Might be my bias speaking but I don’t think that was held ball. Watched the replay and seems pretty borderline to me. Oh well, there’s always next time

Wow.
Baffles me though that at this level defenders get caught up in the hype of the game… I’ve always been taught that if there’s less than 10 seconds to go and you can’t get a clean intercept you’ve gotta just stay in play and put pressure over a shot and not give away silly penalties/shots at goal. That’s two games this week won on penalty shots but tonights especially I believe could’ve been avoided..?

Also I kinda didn’t want either team to win so am sorta disappointed it wasn’t a draw? With extra time it might’ve at least felt a little more fulfilling than a messy, physical and undisciplined game where the fever fell over the line.

In previous years when fever have been coming from behind and trying to find a way to win, they haven’t had anyone able to cleanly win back ball. Aryang and Anstiss are really stepping up in the clutch moments and Bruce is learning to come off the body when it gets tight too. Bruce’s growth is especially promising as hopefully she can replicate that at an international level…

Yeah I couldn’t believe that Manu’a and Poolman contested that ball like that. There was less than two seconds on the clock, they should have just blocked the space between JFR and the post and not contested at all. Great drama though!

I think the Giants might have a bit of a comedown after this one. They seemed genuinely devastated. The Swifts match will be very interesting.

The COVID protocols were ridiculous and way over the top. I can’t believe they had the ball kids in hazmat suits.

I timed the held-ball on Harten 3 times and got 3.05, 2.99 and 3.04. 50/50 call in the end – but probably the right one.
