Updating that stat mentioned earlier in the game…
Fever with Teague-Neeld on court are -11 goals. With Glasgow on court, they’re +57 goals.
Just seen the game, JLP up to her usual grubby thuggy play.
Really wonder how she keeps making the Diamonds team.
Never seen her have a good game for the Diamonds yetWell she stupidly did it in front of the Diamonds coach, and to one of her fellow Diamonds. Wonder what Stacey thought of that?
Seeing that JLP got little game time in the Con Cup back in March, an when she did get on court, just trotted around following the WA or not even attempting to keep up with Poi.
Giants don’t seem to have a very big fan base, hmmmm I wonder why.!!I don’t like either of these teams so this is coming from a very unbiased view. So much talk about JLP and Harten (warranted) but not much about Charles or Bruce. Charles was very dirty early on and I thought she should have been taken off. Bruce is a star defender and I love her play but FFS she needs to rein in the dramatics too. Not a good look for a possible Diamonds captain.
There was the instance where Harten bodied up to her around the transverse line and Bruce shoved her away. It was just in front of the umpire so a penalty was advanced from the other end of the court. We only saw the end of it on tv but I asked someone who was at the match (Fever fan) and they said this is what happened. There was a lot of shoving, grabbing with subsequent eyerolls when picked up last night too. Like I said, I love her as a player – she turned the game with some amazing defensive tips/intercepts last night so she doesn’t need to be doing it.
I feel Charles was getting a bit of niggle off the ball and she was retaliating at the wrong times. She hasn’t been her best in the past few weeks and she’s clearly frustrated.
The thing I don’t like about Harten is that she sets it up right from the first whistle. She is straight into the niggly stuff, unnecessarily intense and puts her body into it straight away. The passion is great but not when it takes away from all the skill you have. Trying to intimidate a player by giving them a death stare and then chucking the ball at them when they are only giving as good as you are is just plain immature and not in the spirit of the contest. So many times she has “lost” the game for her team in the dying minute because she can’t keep her cool and play smart netball. She got too clever for herself last night.
She also had a chat to the umpires at the break and then threw her hands in the air when the conversation didn’t go her way. Well sure enough, most calls didn’t go her way in the final quarter. Not a coincidence!

Honestly if the diamonds are coming from these two teams then we will be whistled out of international games. Anstiss and Charles have always been niggly, its funny that they don’t like it when it’s on the other foot.
Bruce, Anstiss, Charles, Price. Can see 70 penalties alone with those 4 on court.
If that’s the way forward for the Diamonds, it’s not going to win any major event anytime soon.I expect Ravaillion will be the Australian C. If she wants it. She is in good form. Despite her injury Watson remains in the box seat to be the WA. WD is an interesting one. Not sure who they will go for there.
Ravaillion has been shaky in the important moments for the Firebirds. It’s still early days in her comeback, but at this stage I wouldn’t have her in the 12. Her international performances were not strong after 2015 either, she made some really basic turnovers in the final Q of the CWG final that got England back in the match. She’s also never seemed comfortable feeding shooters except for Aiken and Bassett. She is building though so I can imagine her stepping it up and making her way back into the 12 and 7.
The C position for the Diamonds never seems settled. They went with Kate Moloney at the Con Cup, she fizzled out after about 40min, JLP isn’t a option to hot headed, Kim Rav no not yet, Charles, Anstiss, Brazill????
Hopefully Proud comes back fully fit for the rest of the season, she could put her hand up for that C position. I personally wouldn’t have Charles or Anstiss in the team of 12. If Rav can maintain good form throughout this season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her back in the squad.
