Firebirds attack have started well. Aiken keeping Dehaney very quiet.
Samason has been good, once she settles and stops leading so early she’ll fit in well. The Vixens defenders need to do more in attack.
The umpires just got the centre pass wrong. The Firebirds had the first centre pass of the match and it got switched after the timeout.
Turn and shoot Samason
Gosh I know that forward options aren’t presenting but Moloney’s passes to Eddy and Weston off the CP
Yup I agree al_ex the Vixens defenders need to do a lot more in attack. That’s why I’d like to see Smith on.
Mundy goes for the one handed take and Jenner eats that up.
FBs much quicker on to loose balls.
Rav is dominating Moloney.
Aiken shooting super shots and FBs out by 9.
The attacking effort from Eddy, Weston, Moloney and Mundy just hasn’t been good enough. If they lift the Vixens will be back in the match.
The supershot is such a mental thing. It always seems to be that either everyone is landing them or everyone is missing them. It makes sense when you look at the stats of how high the percentages are from the zone when it’s only worth one point. I hope that if it remains the zone becomes smaller, like in Fast5.
1/4 time: Firebirds 24-16
I know there’s a lot of criticism of the super shot (rightly so), but when someone like Romelda hits them, it IS exciting! Vixens too many turnovers. Would it be fair to say that the one playing her first game is their best player?
Memo to Jo Weston, please stop it with the 1 arm flings. That’s all.
Was that a caution to Aiken for persistent obstruction? I don’t mind it as she is persistently and purposefully obstructing.
Samason needs to come out to GA. Kumwenda either doesn’t have the legs or doesn’t want to offer leads outside the circle. The Vixens defence is having more impact but it must be said the umpire at that end makes some unusual calls.
Vixens cutting into the lead in the 2nd Q. Firebirds up 29-23. Aiken’s been penalised four times already in this Q.
Well Rahni has answered our Vixens shooting questions.
But Simone what are you going to do about this mudcourt?
Vixens coaching must be relieved to now have someone else in the team that can and will shoot. Even if we don’t win, it still feels like a big step in the right direction and we might be able to see some success later in the season.
Firebirds back to a lead of 8 as we go into the power play.
Samason doing a good job out at GA. She’s been great, such confidence to the post. I expect she’ll start at GA for the rest of the season.
Hannah Mundy is very inconsistent. I think they need to try Smith at C at some point with Moloney at WA.
