Was surprised the Proud wasn’t used in the Con Cup. Whoever they pick for the Australian leg of the Con cup,
will have to be very fast.Does anyone else think Moloney would be a great international WD? She started off there and would have combinations with Weston and Watson but not have to feed. Shes a great linking player so our transitions would be better imo. Id give the C to a confident feeder who is steady and can deliver defensively aka Proud or Hadley.
I’ve always wanted to see Moloney at WD for the Diamonds (and the Vixens). Her defence has never been the problem.
Both Hadley and Proud should have gotten a run at CC, but neither were even included in the 12. It seems to be common wisdom that Hadley isn’t an International option, but given she never got to play against the Top 4 in C/WA at NWC and had a fractured arm at CC 2019 I think she definitely deserves more opportunities.
You’re impressed that (by far the most) populous state in Australia has managed to produce some talent?
Hadley is too soft at international level. She doesn’t have enough confidence.
It is ridiculous that not a single warning was handed out to the Giants players. I would even be happy for a straight send off for that off the ball bump by Price on Anstiss. Fowler was also repeatedly hit by Poolman and at times Manu’a as well, and often had to shoot with Poolman under 1 foot away.
Giants won’t win the SSN, to many ego’s in that team. They will implode if they got to the final.
Wow a lot of Giant hate… Fever are no angels either and they looked like winning the GF last year…
I think the Giants team is quite different to when the comp started. Fitzgerald has done a good job of bringing Aussie talent through: Parmenter, Dwyer, Hay, Austin (albeit she is injured) and McDonnell is being developed. If you compare that to the Swifts they have had far greater rejuvenation of their lineup where Akle hasn’t really developed anyone or brought anyone new in post the team she inherited from Rob Wright. Fraser should be much further along in her development.
Yes Giants were undisciplined in this game but Fever aren’t angels either.
JFitz is one of the best developmental coaches in the world, you only have to look at the long line of players she’s brought through to realise that. But I think it’s also important to note that a big reason she’s been able to lure basically every single talented NSW player is because of the the Giants financial backing. Austin, Dwyer, Letherbarrow, Iongi, Parmenter etc. were all part of the Swifts program but better Training Partner packages lured them across to Giants. Austin, Dwyer and Parmenter have come a long way since then which is all credit to JFitz, but the TP support helps get the players through the door. There are others like Hay and McDonell who weren’t given much opportunity with the Waratahs/Swifts but if the two clubs were equally resourced the spread of talent would be similar. Now that they both have academies it should level out a bit, but it’s clear the Giants have gotten the best of the 97-02 bunch.
Just frustrating to watch a game and teams, who decide to play with little skill, and are more interested in charging into a player (on purpose), just have to read JLP’s response to Sue’s question to her on social media.
JLP had no right to do tht to Jess Anstiss. The SSN umpires let far to much go, it’s no wonder the Diamonds are struggling at the moment. Might be able to play like that in the SSN, but get into the real Netball world, and get whistled out of the game. -
