I think Stacey needs to pick defensive combos for Constellation Cup. Bruce, Klau and Weston may be our best defenders but they don’t play well together. Bruce is absolutely dominating with Aryang in front of her, and Turner/Klau are a proven combination.

Anstiss was excellent today, really put her hand up. I’d rather have her in the Diamonds 12 than Charles. She kept Ravaillion very quiet.

@Ian but its not the super shots that that Fever won the game on – from the stats shown on screen Firebirds actually scored one more than Fever. How many times did Firebirds lose the ball from missed super shots and helter-skelter play trying to get into super shot position?

Full time: Fever 79-69 (MVP: Jess Anstiss)

Interesting that both teams had the same number of attempts. It was Firebirds’ poor accuracy during the Power 5 which killed them.

Meanwhile, Firebirds just FOUR gains? Bruce had three times that many on her own!

Schmeetle, that’s the same thing. It’s the whole mindset of playing in the power play. Firebirds didn’t do it well at all whereas Fever did. Yes, Firebirds scored one more super shot, but it was all the other shots they missed out on because they went so far away from their normal game which was working perfectly well in the first 10 minutes of each Q.

As the game swung the Ellis-Geitz barrack-commentary noticeably began to lose its enthusiasm.

Interesting to be reminded that there was a possibility that Fever would be penalised points, but also that their For and Against wouldn’t be counted. How would that of worked – just for the three games they won to get back to zero points…or all the games they played until they won their first 3 games and got back to zero points….not that that happened ofcourse.

What would Fever’s % be if the for and against for their first three games wasn’t included?

Really impressed by Anstiss’ growth in C. Never liked her in C before but she has clearly worked very hard on the attacking side of her game. Can see her taking Moloney’s spot in the Diamonds.

Shame to see Tippah Dwan being used in the way the FBs are playing her. She is so much more than a super shot specialist but seems to only get on to bring back the score line when leads blow out. Some of the errors that are taking place are a direct result of that strategy and her lack of court time.

Wonder if Dwan would like to move to the Vixens in 2022?

Ravaillion has made an amazing comeback but I’m not so convinced by Bueta. She still has moments of greatness but she leaks way too many errors. She’s second in the league for Turnovers, behind only Harten who has had absolute horror games the past few weeks. Dwan should have come on earlier today and should have stayed on at the end in my opinion. I doubt she will move though, surely the F’Birds will try and tide her over for a year or two and then they’ll play Bueta/Dwan as their starting circle. Collingwood (or whatever team they become next year) are the ones who should really go after her.

                        al_ex – C’wood has Sinclair at GA …imo she’s doing a fine job.

I don’t think Sinclair is SSN starting level. Collingwood are not going to win a premiership with her at GA. She’s definitely not a bad player, I just think her ceiling is quite low. She’s the only one in their 7 who hasn’t played Internationally and isn’t in a position to do so in the future. She was very good against Weston this round though so maybe she’ll prove me wrong.

Ha ha….all of the international experience of current Collingwood players has put them in such good stead so far.

                              Jovic hasn’t played international.

@JR you beat me to it :good:

Collingwood buying up 6 of the Diamonds when SSN started, to all this “international talent” now. Has never worked.

That said, with Nicole Richardson as coach the team look the happiest and most cohesive as they ever have.

Jovic hasn’t played internationally but she is certainly in a position to do so if she keeps improving at the rate she has been.

Dwan/Nelson has the potential to be one of the best combinations in Netball if they can build across a few seasons. Not dissimilar to Bell/Borrego and Medhurst/Aiken in the years they won ANZC. Nelson is only 22 and Dwan is 21 so they both have a lot of development left in them.
