Nice to see the Magpies wearing their white dresses
The away dresses are much nicer this year. Magpies and T’Birds have both looked great in their away matches.
Pretty even start, Nelson starting to dominate already.
1/4 time: Magpies 19-14
Brilliant start from Magpies. Only 2 turnovers! Just great all over the court. Koenen probably the only Lightning player ahead in her matchup.
Magpies 19/20 (Nelson 13/13)
Lightning 14/17 (Koenen 12/13)Well done Steph Wood, shortest player in the circle but she’s picked up a couple of crucial rebounds. Lightning have clawed their way back. 26-26
1/2 time: Magpies 34-31
Good game. Lightning caught and passed Magpies, before the visitors steadied and recaptured the lead. Only 15 turnovers from the 2 sides combined. Both GSs good targets.
Magpies 34/38 (Nelson 26/28)
Lightning 31/37 (Koenen 26/30)So is the SSN still playing the old short pass rule?
Magpies have answered the challenges so far. Every time Lightning makes a run at them, Magpies steady and retain their lead. 41-38
Koenen’s GA game is great but her range is so small. That’s a real work on for her.
The Lightning just can’t stop the ball into Nelson. Imagine if she was playing this well when Medhurst was still around…
3/4 time: Magpies 47-43
Magpies have withstood all that Lightning’s thrown at them so far. Can they do it for 15 more mins?
Magpies 47/51 (Nelson 35/37)
Lightning 43/54 (Koenen 33/39)A year after the announcement of the super shot, so far we’ve had 0/1.
I’m getting really p*ssed off with the TV coverage losing the score display
Big call for Lightning. Binnian Hunt comes on at WA. Magpies 55-54
Wood levels with a super shot, then Nelson puts Magpies in front again. Time out with 3mins left. Magpies 59-58
Ohhh, Nelson had a rushed chance right on full time and missed. So we’re off to extra time! 62-62.
