      LIGHTNING WINS!!!

The second match that the Lightning have stolen, they’re just more composed under pressure even if they’re outplayed for the rest of the match. 6 wins, 2 losses, +5 goal difference.

That might really push Magpies out of Finals contention. They pretty much need to win 5 of their last 6 matches now.

Hope Nelson don’t get to down on herself with that massive air ball.

Anybody’s match, Lightning chased for most of the game and I thought they were hoping to catch up with a supershot. They did, but victory was just a fumble away for either team.

Full time: Lightning 67-65 after ET (MVP: Cara Koenen)

28 penalties to Ward didn’t help Magpies but not sure why Liz was saying she should be subbed for Newton during extra time when they’d already said that subs weren’t allowed in extra time.

Would have pulled Scherian. Her turnovers were high and then there was a play in the second quarter when a Magpie player was offside into the goal circle, Scherian took the ball outside and threw it away. When it’s an offside call into the goal circle, doesn’t a goaler take the ball and can only pass.

Thought WA – Hunt, C – Cassidy and WD – McAuliffe (or vice versa C and WD) would have settled the Lightning and been more effective.

I think Hunt is the future WA for Lightning. I’m not sure if Scherian will be back next year, I feel like Lightning should go after Gardner. I don’t mind Proscovia/Koenen/Wood either but Cara really needs to improve her range if she wants to be running out at GA.

I would love to see a Ward/Newton defensive circle for the Magpies. I think that circle will win more ball. Doubt we will see it though.

I thought Hunt on to WA was the master-stroke amongst all the other tweaks (including Wood at WA for a while) – kept Braz guessing. Hunt outmuscled Braz and also beat her in the air and there aren’t many WAs that can do that. Braz lost it mentally in the last part of the last quarter and ET; as soon as Koenen won the penalty from Braz on the Magpies centre pass Braz was too busy appealing to the umpire all the time and not concentrating on the game.

                        Hi everyone
Wasn’t sure which board to post this on – forgive me if there’s a better one :)

I just saw the announcement of the Western Sting team
Rose Aryang, Donnell Wallam, Ingrid Colyer and Olivia Lewis some big names.
When does this comp run again (now it’s not alongside) and why is Olivia Lewis named if she’s in the Fever 10? Can you have contracted players then? Surely Ingrid won’t be rehab-ed anytime soon? Is time getting away from me?
                        Thanks guys

It is meant to be held in September in Latrobe city I believe. I’m guessing minimal court time right mean that some contracted players might be eligible for the competition but not sure as the details surrounding this competition have been very minimal so far.

I’ve started up a thread about the ANC, Montyandpoppy. It’s actually Ruth Aryang, not Rose Aryang.
