The Swifts seem to have a much better team culture than the Giants, so I’m not surprised they have mentally handled the quarantining better. Add in their mental strength workshop last week which Garbin referenced a lot and it’s not really surprising how much better they performed today.

I don’t really understand why Jo Harten is allergic to the bench. Aside from the fact that she’s performed poorly, her attitude is bad and she seems to have brought down the level of the girls around her.

I just fail to understand why Harten in captain, she sulks and sulks and plays crap.

          Final score: Firebirds 63-52.

So Giants lost by 11 despite scoring 10 super shots to Firebirds’ 1!

Harten with 13 turnovers, Bueta with 12. A lot of Bueta’s turnovers came once the lead had already been blown out, but these two are consistently expensive for their sides. If they both lift it feels like their teams will win more consistently. Otherwise Finals could be a challenge.

Ravaillion back to her best after being outplayed by Proud last week. Surely she and Proud will make the Diamonds this year… If Hadley gets in as well it will pretty much be the 21U team from 2013 World Youth Cup!

I think we’ve heard bits and pieces about a potentially slightly unhealthy Giants culture over the last few seasons. So I don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest that the culture could be impacting how they’re handling their isolation and in general, this season. Harten, as the captain and most experienced player, I would expect to stand up and lead her team through these tough matches rather than get down and sulky.
