Full time: Swifts 63-59
Giants won that last quarter by 5, Swifts got a bit nervous and had a few fumbles, but they had built up a big enough lead to hold on. Great game and a deserved champion.
Tips on MVP? Sammy Wallace for me, just like 2019.
Bit of an average grand final, but entertaining enough nonetheless, congrats swifts!
Wallace was best on court by far, not really sure how Turner was picked.
Poolman is one hell of a dirty player, glad to see her finally get called for her relentless deliberate contacting.

If my maths is correct it would have been 59 – 50 with no supershots?
So the end score with supershots is flattering to the Giants. What class act by Jo Harten, speaking so well after losing final. For Swifts well deserved, shame it wasnāt played in Sydney, feeling sad because this could be the last time that this Swifts current line up play together, feel changes could be coming
So what now for the Giants. Austin will be back, so what happens to Sophie Dwyer, maybe time to cut Harten lose.
Poolman has to go, what a grubby player, and far to slow. JLP lobbed around the court looking bored. She has had the same coach since she was what 17yrs old. Time for a change, her game is not improving. How amazing would Dehaney be at the Giants? One can dream…
Wow! Congrats to the Swifts, amazing consistency within their roster has really paid off the last few seasons. For Giants, although Iām not the biggest Harten fan, I do feel for her – couldāve been her first National league title.
I agree that JLP and Manuāa should move on. New coaching and environment and could really lift their game (but doubt theyāll move).
Great to see Suncorp to sign on to continue for the next few seasons.
A few things to tidy up…
Giants had more shots at goal than Swifts.
They were 9/22 in super shots compared to just 4/6 for Swifts. Giants had more super shot attempts in each Q as Swifts progressively got further in front.
Swifts’ shooting % was 92 compared to Giants’ 77.
Turner was absolutely dogged in defence, she completely shut down Dwyer.
Interesting that Julie made so many changes, she had to try something but it was so unlike her to do that.
On the other hand, I thought Briony interchanging both Nat and Hadley in WA kept Parmenter busy & was less effective than usual. Brilliant really.
Yes, and the Garbin cameo when Housby needed a moment to look at the game from another angle.
The Giants lack of options in attack were exposed today.
Looking forward to seeing the next phase of Akleās coaching, where she needs to rebuild. Sheās had great success as a new coach so early on in her career.
